Anybody heard if there's supposed to be any news today?

I haven't heard anything, but I hope I hear sooner, rather than later. I have an acceptance at a school with a deposit due Dec 1st but I don't want to put down a deposit without hearing back from Iowa.

I called today. They said that the committee has not met since that first batch of acceptances were sent out. The committee will also not be meeting next week.

Oh snap!!! That sucks. Thanks for making the call.

I'm not sure whether to be happy or sad.

I just withdrew my interview invitation. Good luck to everyone!

I'd lalalalove to interview here. I wish they hadn't passed me over 🙁

Kathi, the director of admissions, emailed me the other day to answer a few of my questions about the school, and she kept wording her responses in a way that made it sound like she thought I was already accepted. Except I haven't been. 🙁🙁🙁

Would you please be able to give me her email address? I misplaced her card that she gave us at the interview. Thanks.

Just attended 10/29. You may know me as the giant CBL writing guy.

I would have to say that the interview format was nice, 1/2 structured, 1/2 unstructured. I did feel that maybe I spoke a little too much, and that they didn't have a chance to ask further questions, but there's only so much that can be said in 25 minutes. Plus I heard them do a short schpeel, which was nice. I got asked like 5-6 questions, so I spent about 3-5 minutes answering them.

The tour was nice, other than the weather was VERY chilly. My OOS skin isn't used to that sort of temperature in October!!!

I stayed at the AKK house Sat night, then a MSAP student's Sun night, and then Iowa House Hotel.

Rented Hertz over the weekend, $69. I loved the deal, and the fact that I filled up only 2.4 gallons at $3.4/gal. SO CHEAP.

Downtown was quaint. Small. Over the river and separated from the med school. But loved that the gym is next to Carver College, so working out will be a snap.

Any zingers in the interview? At my Yale interview I was asked some really strange questions. I imagine that they are a bit more laid back at Carver. 😎

Yeah they had one kind of ethical/medical/healthcare dilemma. Just wanted our opinions on them I guess. Nothing terribly difficult.

👍 If I only had that answer on hand!

The closest thing I got to a zinger was "Your patient needs a blood transfusion. His religion prohibits it. What do you do?"

This isn't a zinger - if you look at interview feedback from Carver over the last several years this is one of the common questions that they will ask you.

I said it was the closest thing I got to a zinger. Thanks for the worthless comment.

You're welcome. I was just saying that you would have known about this question in advance if you would have looked at the interview feedback thread.

And thanks for a worthless reply to my worthless comment, which allowed me to post another worthless comment.

I can't find the interview feedback... any help?

II today by status update!!!! 🙂 So excited for Carver! C:10/30, II: 11/06! 😍

Where did it show your status?

Well when I signed into the online portal I saw a new tab at the top right after the update contact tab that said "interview". I clicked on it and it was the invitation and instructions.

This upcoming Tuesday is making me super nervous, y'all.

Does anyone have any idea if Iowa gives any preference to students who did their undergrad at Iowa, regardless of state residency? I know some state schools do this, no clue about Iowa though...

Nope, not that I know of.

Do people in Iowa say "yall," or will I stick out like a sore Southerner?

Withdrew today, cancelled interview...hopefully it goes to someone who really wants to be at Iowa!

Anyone know for sure if the committee will meet today?

Any chance of admissions decisions today? Or would a committee meeting today mean no decisions released til next Tues? :xf:

Does anyone know the latest interview date that has currently been notified of their status? & also how many interview dates they review each time they meet?

I interviewed 10/24, so I am guessing that even if they do meet today I still have another round to wait before I hear my status.

So excited to hear! I love Carver! 🙂

You may not hear for awhile. I was in the first week of interviews and I still haven't heard anything, even though the committee met once already. I heard they only accepted ~20 people in the first round.

ACCEPTED!

OOS/35/3.9. Interview 10/15.

😀

Interviewed on 9/24; no email for me today. Welp, here's looking ahead to acceptance in March from the final pool. :xf:
