Last year the final reported straight acceptances were sent on Wednesday the 18th I think, and mass waitlists went out on Friday 2 days later. Rejections came out the next week spread across a few days.

I think I am going to try to do something fun today because I am just getting stressed out sitting at the computer lol
have they been releasing decisions specifically on the wednesdays for the past few weeks?

When did you interview? Agh I wish they'd just release all the decisions at once!!

9/25, its been a very long road of sad face fridays. At least I know they didn't lose my app behind a desk or something, a little relief for now 😛 :xf::xf::xf: Good luck you guys

No one else heard anything today? Another quiet week...

It appears at least 2 people were accepted this morning.

Silence. Safe to assume it's a no news day? It seems like most emails get sent out earlier in the day.

Nothing here. There's always the very slight chance that what's happening near Boston is affecting the admissions office? Plausible I'd say.

Well, the second look isn't until next weekend. Perhaps they really are behind on their end and decisions will go out next week? (Here's hoping...)

I would actually guess that more emails will go out the week after the second look weekend because now waitlists have been given out and they can't do anything until some accepted students drop out, which is more likely to happen after the second look event. finger crossed.

Have any current applicants participated in the UMMS Summer Programs? Whether it be the Summer Undergraduate Research Program or Summer Enrichment Program? Also, if so, where are you now in your application cycle with UMass?

Call them if you haven't heard from them. Give them your AMCAS number and they will check the status of your file.
They showed a crazy amount of interest in me, and yet I found out last week that I'm waitlisted.
The class has been filled so if you haven't heard, it's a WL or a rejection. Luckily, they usually take a big chunk off their waitlist.

Just call them and find out. This wait has honestly been insane.

I just took your advice and called. they said my "application is still with the admissions committee" and that wait lists and rejections are still going out. what has the committee been doing with my application for 5 months?! ..and i know some of you have been waiting even longer than that...

I waited for 6 months, yes. Half a freaking year.

That's what they told me, too, then I called again a few days later and found out.

Did you ever get a waitlist email? Or were you just told waitlist on the phone with no email? I also called and was just told the committee is still looking at my file.

This school is so confusing. They sent out rejections this time last year... why the delay this year?

I Just Called and I was told that the "admissions committee is still reviewing my application."
It's been over 5 months now since I interviewed. I love UMASS med....but this wait is unbearable

is there a date when a medical school has to tell you've been rejected or waitlisted?

I believe its May 15th.

I'm also a re-applicant and was rejected last year exactly today.
I'm just bummed - why they would interview me again and reject me again?? (I really hope they don't).

I'm also a re-applicant waiting to hear and completely understand how you feel.

+1

This whole cycle has been exhausting. I can't wait to actually KNOW where I'll end up.

+1 I just hope I'll hear their final decision by Jun 1, before I submit my AMCAS and spend more money for reapplying.

Do people know how reapplying works while still being wait-listed? Apply to other schools first and add the wait-listed schools after getting rejections later?

When did you guys(the reapplicants) interview? Is it true that they normally interview reapplicants later in the cycle?

I interviewed early November (last year as well).
Man, this wait is so awful.

For this cycle I was interviewed in December, but last year I wasn't interviewed until March

FWIW my friend was accepted here yesterday without being waitlisted beforehand, so maybe there is still hope if you haven't heard anything? I just don't know anymore lol... worst admissions staff in the country.

They're not so bad--- at least every application is seen by the same two people. That has to be pretty time-intensive.

I interviewed in October. I haven't heard anything, so I just called. The answer was that my application is still with the Admissions Committee. The person I spoke with confirmed that the class has been filled, so it's a decision between waitlist or rejection. We will be notified between now and May 15. On the plus side, maybe *some people who haven't heard (like the person above) are "high priority" waitlists, and as people drop out they're being accepted? Who knows...

Do you think they have been rejecting people all along? I don't get why if they wait to tell you that you've been rejected if a decision has been made. I also interviewed here last Nov. Maybe they make decisions on reapplicants at the very end. Does anyone know a reapplicant that has been accepted?

have any september interviews not heard back? will waitlists still go out or only rejections?

I interviewed at the end of September and still have nothing. My numbers are above UMass's average and I had great interviews, so I would honestly be completely shocked to get rejected.

I just called and they said they're still reviewing my application. I am not a reapplicant and interviewed 10/31. Applications must be reviewed multiple times... Maybe the one they aren't sure about they put off until the next meeting.

I interviewed back in September and was placed on the wait list earlier this month...I'm not 100% sure how they go about it all because if there are still people who interviewed in September and are still waiting to hear back...

I am going to be pretty mad if all this waiting is just to be rejected on May 15th lol

It seemed that last year UMass sent out two waves of wait lists...I'm not sure if the second wave has gone out, maybe someone can clarify, but there's definitely hope! :xf:

Rejected this morning. Interviewed September 19. Waited over 9 MONTHS for a rejection. REALLY UMASS?

Are just taking their time rejecting the remaining people who haven't heard. does anyone know anybody who got accepted without getting waitlisted this late last year?

Rejected half an hour ago. My stats for posterity were a 3.8 and a 36, and I had my best interviews here. I am just completely lost right now, I thought this school was a sure thing.

Rejected today too. 3.65 and 36 + over a year full-time volunteer at the school. Not sure why you would ever expect UMASS to be a sure thing... it's a very competitive school. Good luck to those on the wait list. I'm doing hardcore genealogy research for next year. Maybe I have a spanish relative from medieval times... i've always secretly identified myself as latino. Time to prove it

oh man, is there anybody else still waiting on some form of news?
