Just about done with the secondary!

I really, really hope they give me a shot this year... As a re-re-applicant (third time), I understand it's hard and you have to be impressive, so I'm hoping they recognize that I've done my best and have hopefully shown them I'm ready to do this.

I'm excited to (potentially) meet all of you at interviews! Good luck everyone!

I hope to see you there as well! seems like we are applying to several of the same schools so I hope to at least see you somewhere on the interview trail! 🙂

Any thoughts as to using the final prompt to explain why you are a good fit for the school or why you would like to attend here?

i would say that 3 should cover that. i would leave the last one blank unless you've got some recent awards, new things to add, etc. otherwise, if i was an adcom that is, i would view it as an applicant feeling like they need to suck up to get in, which i would view negatively. however that's just me. 😀

I didn't fill out the last prompt either. Their secondary questions were pretty thorough.

definitely feels good to have that one submitted! here's to hoping i see some of you at interviews here!

Did your guys secondaries indicate that your letters were received? Mine didn't and I don't know if I should be worried or not

Has anybody else not received a secondary yet? I start getting worried when it's been over a week since somebody received it 😛

i wouldn't worry. the U is slow when it comes to secondaries

I got mine on Monday. And since the questions were very similar to other secondaries, I really only had to copy and paste, so I submitted that night. It's coming, don't worry!

Although I am not applying this cycle, if this were to come up when I apply, would being born in the state and having my father as former student help a lot with my chances?

Interview invite this afternoon at the Duluth campus! So excited! Still haven't received the Twin Cities secondary though...

I think that, being a public school, they like to help out students with strong ties to the area and university. Also, I assume they want their graduates to practice medicine in state, and those with strong Minnesota ties are more likely to stay.

As the U of M is my undergrad, and I was an admissions counselor for high school students, I think I can say with confidence that they really like their Minnesota kids, and I think its very likely they use that question to asses how strongly you are connected to their state.

Us Minnesotans, we like it up here dontcha know?

C'mon UoMinn, give me a secondary:

Has anyone heard anything from TC lately?

Don't worry guys and gals--the U typically takes longer than other schools, so its not abnormal. Wishing you all luck throughout this process!

Hi guys,
Does anyone have a link to where the secondary is submitted? I deleted the email accidentally and it's just gone.

I'm confused on the letters of recommendation page. It says there's supposed to be a table but I don't see anything...I have like 6 letters marked as received on my AMCAS and not a single one even shows up here??

did you assign them to the university of minnesota?

Secondary received and submitted today! Hopefully I'll get another interview this year after being so close to getting in last cycle (made it to #6 on alternate list)!

Secondary received!

For those of you applying to TC and Duluth, are you just copy and pasting your answers for the questions that are identical?

Does anybody know if they send complete emails? They've received my secondary and verified my fee but idk if I'm under review 🙂

In the two cycles in which I have applied in the past, they have not sent complete emails.

I am re-applying to both Duluth and TC. I feel like Duluth is a long shot even for MN residents unless you have lived or worked in greater MN. They have such a demand for rural physicians and reservations I don't think they are taking any chances anymore. My friend who is starting school this fall was accepted basically all around the country and couldn't land an interview so kudos to you all who did/are!

Best of luck!

I have been verified since the 31st and have not received the TC secondary yet. Anyone else in my position?

Yeah, if you mean the 31st of July you are probably going to be waiting. I was verified on July 2 and received the secondary 3 days ago (TC program). Probably some lag time with mine because I was verified so early (no one got them for the first couple weeks) but Minnesota seems to take their time.

I've already picked what campus to apply to and have been verified, now I'm waiting to hear back to them. WHY do they have to take their time! Anyone remember how long it took them to send the secondary after picking TC campus?

It took them a month to get back to me.

You guys need to chill. The UMN is horribly slow, but their admissions process is too. You application won't be affected because you haven't received a secondary yet.

Agree with this completely. I was verified on July 23 and received my secondary exactly three weeks later on August 13. This was the last (by far) of many secondaries that I've received, I wouldn't worry about it!

+1

I waited a month and a half to get mine. What matters is turning it around fast and making sure it's high quality.

Reapplicant here. The UM site clearly says that Reaps need to obtain NEW letters of rec for each subsequent cycle. A few of my letters are from people with whom I have not had any new experiences in the past year and I don;t see the point in taking up their precious time re-wording the same letters. As much as I do not want to believe that I need to get new ones, I have a feeling they will hold to their policy.

Before I contact admissions I wanted to see if anyone has already asked about resubmitting the same letters (along with new ones from different evaluators) or had success resubmitting in the past. Thanks folks.

sooo i creeped on last year's thread and it seems like people got II's around a month after submitting secondaries (around this time -- late august). hopefully we'll hear something soon! I submitted 7/24.

hey guys sorry if this has been answered earlier in the thread, i'm on my phone and it's hard to look back at all the posts. anyway I just got the email invite to do the secondary, i'm OOS and have already spent sooo much money i'm not sure if it's worth it for me to do this one, anyway just wondering how much of a hurdle it is to receive the secondary here? thanks!
