Nine from my group stayed for the optional session, though I did not. Clearly we few who left and the Pitt staff there were a bit surprised and confused.

😕

And on this note, would a 6:05pm flight be reasonable to catch while staying for the optional interview? It's the latest flight I could get and it's also "after 6pm" as the email advised 🙂 Thanks

Probably just a mistake in what you wrote but the optional session is just an information session and not an interview. I think it would be difficult to make a 6:05PM flight if you stayed for the optional session. My flight was 6PM. I made it to the airport through security by about 5:10PM taking the 3:30PM 28X shuttle (came at around 3:40PM). If you stayed for the info session you might not be able make this shuttle. I think they come every hour so it wouldn't be good if you could only make the airport by 6PM (flights board earlier).

Yeh, definitely a type. Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to assume that I'll probably be skipping the session unless we finish early somehow. I just need to remember to keep that 3:30 shuttle time in mind 🙂. Thanks again!

I guess all those who submitted in september and earlier have been passed over. Bye bye pitt. 🙁

Don't they stop interviewing during early January?
Looks like they are almost all booked!

Per their website, they stop interviewing mid December. I think December 18th is the last interview date.

Interviewed here yesterday. Absolutey loved it. Now for more waiting... And hopefully no more waiting after Jan 31st.

anyone else interviewing tomorrow? getting excited for my trip to Pittsburgh later this afternoon!

II invite here. WOO HOO! I can't wait!

Pitt will be extending the interview season until about the second week in January to accommodate those that applied late.

That's good to hear. Do you know if the first decisions will still be released on time?

So it seems like September completions are all done. I guess that's another unofficial rejection for today -_-

You can see the information and timeline here:

http://www.medadmissions.pitt.edu
http://www.medadmissions.pitt.edu/announcements/calendar.php

January 11th is the last (scheduled) date for interviews.
Admissions decisions are supposed to be released on January 31st.

Remember that although it is now non-rolling, Pitt's AdCom meets frequently throughout the season to discuss applicants. It is unlikely that adding one extra week will significantly change anything. There will just be a few extra people thrown into the mix in January.

Hi folks! I'm interviewing here on Nov 19th, a mere two weeks from now. I recently discovered that both MS1 and MS2 UPitt students have exams that day or the next... I also found that the price for hotels near the medical school are outrageously overpriced. Does any one have any suggestions? MS3/4's that might like to have a guest for a few days? 😀 Cheap hotels you've found while interviewing? Let me know! <3

You can get a hotel nearby for $100-140/night. That's not too bad compared to some other cities. You might be able to find someone willing to host you for a night if you email enough people. He/she probably won't be able to spend a lot of time with you, though, because of the upcoming exams. If you're trying to stay multiple days, then you might run into more problems finding a host. You might want to try booking a refundable hotel room just in case.

wooo rejected, not expected. complete around middle of September

Same. Complete end of sept. 36Mcat 3.75 gpa.

Well, the bright side is that these schools like to do mass executions. It's better than dying alone. 🙂

Is UPitt top 20? Just trying to find ways to make me feel better about myself.

Worse, Top 15!!

Rejected as well, 36 3.9 complete September. Seems like a lot of bad news lately for September completions at every school. Good luck to all the 3.5 30 MCATs complete in July with IIs

I stayed at Hilton Garden Inn- University Place. They had breakfast in the morning as well as a shuttle that can drop you off right at Scaife Hall in the morning. Unfortunately, it wasn't cheap. I think it was 150 or so.

I was rejected too. 38 3.9, complete in mid-September. my mcat and gpa don't mean a thing just because I applied late. I have 6 interview invites, I interviewed at 2 places so far and both wait listed me. I think I might have to re-apply next year.

Were your two waitlists both at top tier schools?

...Seems that they do a lot of waitlisting.

There's a lot of season left. Unless you applied narrowly or there's something wrong about your interview skills, I'd keep your head up. Waitlists aren't rejections, and the reapplying demerit may not make next season terribly better than this season.

To everyone with rejections, keep on keeping on. It's just one school. Yeah, it sounds like September completions are going to get ravaged this year by so many people having applied early.

For those who were rejected today, keep your heads up if you're international, a friend asked admissions point blank last year if pitt has ever accepted internationals and the coy reply was none has ever matriculated. Unless you invented a cure for cancer or delivered first aid in a war torn country, chances are it was going to be a rejection. All the best!

Yes, international students have been accepted (I interviewed one last year). Said person did not appear to be a superstar. It is, however, a hurdle to fund oneself as an international student because one pays full price and likely needs to demonstrate that all of those funds already exist (because the school doesn't want someone to not complete school).

That's interesting. Was said international canadian citizen by any chance? If not, then I retract my earlier post. It's still extremely odd that not a single one have ever matriculated though. Funding is a problem at every medical school, not just pitt

Anyone here complete mid-october?

I applied mid october and got an invite the following day, 38/3.9 @ state school, non-trad. Not sure why I was picked over some of the higher scoring candidates in this thread, but I am grateful for the opportunity. Interview in Dec.

Wow invite the following day that's fantastic congrats! Pitt must like you a lot! 😆

Pitt tends to send out a lot of interview invitations within 24-48 hours of the completion date. I was not a particularly high-scoring candidate, but got an II the day after my application was complete. The admissions office does claim to read all of the applications, though!

If you haven't received an interview invitation yet, it doesn't mean that it's game over. Pitt still has 2 months of interviews left.

You think that's crazy...

I know someone that got an invite 20 minutes after submitting their secondary, no lie.

Ohhhh snap....that is beyond overkill...😆 I think we should place that in Guinness Book of World Records

Sigh...well its been a while now. I'll hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
