Yea, it just bugged me cuz one girl was a total healthcare experto and dominated the conversation while everybody else including myself was pretty quiet and only made marginal comments of agreement or shared our fave movies. Whatevs, tho. I hope it's just for kicks. If not, I'm probly done here.

Are you talking about the panel discussion activity? If the question didn't relate to healthcare (e.g. favorite book), I didn't say anything about healthcare. I just talked about what I thought was inspirational. For the questions regarding healthcare I participated in the discussion but didn't say that much. Still got accepted 🙂

Yes, I was talking about the panel discussion activity. And same w/ regard to my participation, so hopefully I'll still get in. Good to hear you did, loved the school and would love to go.

Just got rejected this morning: OOS (NJ), 34 MCAT, 3.2-3.3 uGPA

Mostly sarcasm. But I've heard that a lot of people get in off the waitlist so I'm not devastated.

I am almost 100% certain that I will be withdrawing my acceptance from here once financial packages come out -- so, while we don't know to what degree, rest assured that there will be WL movement at some point. 🙂

Lot of negative energy on here. Not a big poster but just thought I'd give people some hope...

Accepted today. Interviewed 10/5. 33, 3.72, non-science major.

For those who were accepted earlier how long did it take for you to receive the acceptance packet in the mail? I would especially like to hear from anyone accepted from down south. Thanks! Oh and Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂

Congratulations! What did you think of the interviews and group discussion if you don't mind my asking? Were you one of the big talkers in the discussion? Thanks!

Hey! Thanks! The actual interviews were EXTREMELY conversational. Not one bit stressful. They just got to know me and for one of my interviews we spent a good portion of time talking about our favorite shows so that goes to show how laid back it was, The group discussion was alright as well. I definitely was not one of the big talkers. Other than our introductions with the person who was leading the discussion. I only put in my two cents at the end after everyone else had spoken.

Thanks for the info--I was worried about my lack of input in the discussion, but maybe I still have a shot...Congrats again!

I wouldn't worry too much about the group discussion component-- there were a few questions where I didn't have too much to say/said nothing.

I still haven't received my acceptance packet in the mail, so I'm sure the info is there ... but is there a deposit required to hold a spot in the class? is the deposit refundable? thanks!!

Yes, it's $100 and it's refundable.

And.... waitlisted. Interviewed early/mid Oct.

Can anyone speculate about the chances one has in getting accepted off the WL, and whether they are receptive to LOI/updates?

Wait-listed as well, but I am withdrawing my application.

Hope that gives a better chance to those of you willing to wait!

On my interview they said that all aid at Rochester is need-based.

Hey everyone!

Is anyone interviewing on Dec 13th potentially able to switch to Dec 14th?

Please message me if this is possible.

Thanks so very much and best of luck to everyone!

Yesssss! Finally got an II! Definitely my top choice.

In case anyone cares to know:
Complete late aug, 3.7, 33O, IS.

I was accepted via email on 11/21. My snail mail letter just arrived this weekend. Interviewed early October.

I saw that someone was asking about the group discussion thing... For the record, I think it might be better to *not* be a huge talker/dominating presence at the table. I personally only said 1 thing of my own... However, I noticed that I was the only person to actually directly address other members of the interview group (like, asking them questions about what they'd shared, or making some kind of comment in reaction to what they said like 'wow that sounds like a really interesting experience') Considering it was supposed to be a discussion it was just kind of a whole lot of kids just raising their hands and giving a brief monologue only to the admissions officer who was moderating. It wasn't very dialogue-y. That's just my observation and 2 cents from my own interview day - other people may have had a different vibe and I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do. I'm just saying that's my personal impression.

Just to counter this on my day we essentially took turns and went around the table. My point is I don't think it really matters how much or little you contribute at the discussion - just be yourself, because that is how Rochester will get the best grasp of you during this time. Also, we bounced between dialogue and more or less one-on-one conversations. Each group will be different, and my guess is there's no right or wrong method.

Actually, I know of a girl that interviewed roughly around the same time last year, and she was straight out accepted.

Thanks! You're a lifesaver!
