Congrats! I also interviewed on 1/18 and got the waitlist letter today...I'm OOS. Does anyone know how many of the waitlist have had success in previous years or the general reputation of waitlist to offer letter for UW?
sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the OOS wait list doesn't move much. year before last I was told they didn't accept a single person off of it, not sure about last year.

in state is a different story

Just got a call from a UW phyisican re-congratulating me on my acceptance and urging me to come there. Whoa.

Well, flat-out rejected today. IS/35Q/3.92, complete in late August and interviewed 12/14. I thought that adding 100+ volunteer hours since last year's application would've moved me higher up the waitlist at least but I guess it had the opposite effect. Gutted.

Would you guys say a car is essential to go to med school here because of the rotations outside of Madison?

That sucks. I'm sorry. Hope you get in somewhere.

What is the likelihood that someone is removed from the hold pool to be interviewed?
Thanks.

Any IS 1/11ers heard back yet? I'm getting so anxious here...

IS Interviewed 1/11, got letter in the mail today. Waitlisted. Ugh. Anyone know when they start pulling from the WL? How many from the WL each year?

You'll get a ranking in April and they probably won't start accepting until after may 15. I believe around 30 are typically pulled from the in state list. If it makes you feel better I'm IS and am about 90% sure I'm giving my seat up

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but according to their twitter they are done interviewing for this year.

Best of luck

I'm on a shoestring budget until my med school loans roll in & kinda bummed that I can't fly out for second look.

If you had gotten accepted to OHSU or University of Washington (both of which are still hypothetical for me), are there reasons to choose Wisconsin over those two? What would you do if that was the choice you had to make? It looks like they would probably all balance out to costing roughly the same for me and all of my friends & family are in the Northwest. But Wisconsin still really impressed me with how nice and apparently happy everyone there was, the new facilities were great, and I would love the TRIUMPH program if I got into it. They all have pretty similar foci on public health, health disparities, & primary care. Thoughts?

I am also on hold or waitlisted at U of Chicago & Mayo, but I think Wisconsin much more closely matches the culture of what I'm looking for in a school. I'm kind of worried that all my decisions will come in may and I'll have to make my decision in the space of a couple weeks.

If given the option... I'd probably choose a great school that is close to friends and family, but not close enough that proximity to loved ones would distract me.

Mayo was my dream school. I think I would have greater opportunities with such a small class size. I agree with you though, Wisc is pretty impressive.

CONGRATZ, Jellie! You're in! That's an absolute, definite, indubitable acceptance. You should also be getting an email from Becky asking you to join the facebook.

Congrats to all those just accepted. Hopefully that means us 1/25ers will hear back in the next couple of weeks. :poke: (That is me poking the ad com to give us some answers! lol)

so i guess the time has come when schools can see what other schools you've been accepted to. i received a very nice email this morning from my faculty interviewer at UW mentioning the other schools ive been accepted to and encouraging me to come to UW. ahh making this hard for me!

So I've been stewing on this for weeks....

My faculty interviewer said I "interviewed very well" then gave me a run down of what they give to the adcoms post interview ie ratings for desire to attend, fit etc etc. She basically told me that everything checked out on my app and to enjoy the rest of my interview day.

Maybe I'm making the worst out of this, but I kind of took it as some sort of consolation "dont worry you crazy premed" talk and not necessarily a good thing.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

i dont understand how you would have gotten that message from your interviewer saying that. just relax. I thought my interviews went absolutely horrible and it all turned out fine. maybe your particular interviewer is just more forthcoming about the process and wanted to let you know what would happen from there.

I suppose it's just personal experience more than anything. Any interview I've ever had that ended like that (professional or med school wise) never resulted in an offer. At this point it's getting pretty difficult to 'relax' after a pretty disappointing interview season but I'm trying to stay positive.

I interviewed 2-15 and at that time they said they were reviewing early January interviewees so you should find out soon!

Curious, did you get notified in the mail or by phone of your acceptance? (Congratulations!!!) I would be elated. They told me my letter was in the mail... suspense!!!

So has anyone else seen the UW twitter? If the med school caught fire I'm curious about what the extent of the damage is.

None whatsoever, the fire was at the old hospital on 1300 University. It's used mainly for undergrads and research at this point. They are like a solid mile apart.

Have an 1/25 OOS interviewees heard back? I interviewed on 2/1 and it seems like some 1/11 and 1/18 OOS people heard back a month later. Wondering if they're still following that schedule for OOS? Seems like IS is a few weeks behind OOS...

Oh my gosh. I got a letter yesterday that I received a partial scholarship to attend here! Wow I am so appreciative but at the same time I am SO confused on what to do now. I was set to turn down this acceptance and now I don't know if I can. Difficult decisions!

I'm curious about whether there is any correlation with the "Please attend here!" calls/emails...maybe the letter takes an extra day to get to the west coast? :xf::xf::xf::xf::xf:

(Since I have no looming decisions for a couple weeks I need a target for my premed anxiousness)

hoping you get some good news! and yeah I live only about 1 mile from the med school so they probably put it in the mail Friday

Sorry, you must have misread my post. I actually haven't been accepted or declined yet. I am waiting on news! 🙁

I'm pretty sure they call with acceptances tho. When did you interview?

I also received a partial scholarship via snail mail over the weekend 🙂

IS Interviewed 1/18 and just got the accepted phone call!

IS, interviewed 1/25... just got the acceptance call! Wasn't expecting any news for another couple of weeks, so happy Monday! :highfive:

Congratulations you guys/gals! Akeelah, I was rooting for you .... for no apparent reason, really! Congratz.

Congrats! OOS applicants from 2/1 - any news? Might be 1-2 more weeks for us.
I'm OOS, interviewed 2/1, and haven't heard anything yet. Maybe next week then?

Yeah, maybe next week! It seemed UW gave acceptance phone calls for OOS interviewees on the 5th Monday after each interview... Maybe IS and OOS are on the same schedule now. Either way, I bet there are only about 90 - 110 applicants total left to be reviewed which is good news 🙂 :xf:

I got a tuition remission scholarship (OOS paying IS prices). UW, I already love you, you don't have to convince me. You can't go any higher on my list!!

I may have to withdraw and re-apply next year. I'm a little more than sad about this. 🙁

A note to future late applicants... read the AMCAS instructions.
