Has any OOS been accepted from the waiting list? Or accepted recently? I'm so anxious...I check the mail 3 times a day, ugh. I still havent received anything since the interview. I remember them telling me that if I don't hear from them in a month, from my interview date, to call. Has anyone called to check status after an interview?
 
My parents just called me at work and Said I have a letter in the mail!! I'm scared, excited, and everything else.... I'll let you all know my status once I get the letter.
 
So? What's the verdict? And I think jjbodean is the only OOS that's been accepted recently.

GOT MY LETTER TODAY. Dated Feb 13. Was waitlisted. Remaining hopeful. Good luck to everyone!
 
Yes, during the past week there has been a movement of OOS students off of the wait list to the accepted list.
 
Two of my friends have been taken off of the WVU wait list. They both had relatively impressive statistics and are residents of a neighboring state.

I switched gears, somewhat, and will enroll in a Ph.D. program in another state (in fact, I didn't even get an interview at WVU when I was considering medical school). I have no idea how large the OOS wait list movement is. Sorry.

i'm also OOS and on the waitlist, as of about a month ago. interviewed 12/19.
 
I am also a waitlisted IS. Did you send a LOI or any updaed info after being waitlisted in november? Also what is you stats if you do not mind me asking. Congrats on your acceptance.

i'm a very non-trad applicant, graduated with a business degree and a 2.83 GPA. worked in my first career for 14 years. after 2 years of starting off slowly and working my way through the coursework, i held a 4.0 post-bacc. extensive shadowing experiences as well as strong EC history. took the mcat twice: 25R, 27N. per AMCAS my cGPA comes to a 3.18 and sGPA a 3.53.

i did not send any updated info before receiving my letter, but i had plans to do so towards the end of april.

Has any OOS from the waitlist heard anything back!?? I'm hoping some action starts to happen this month. Hope everyone is doing well! This waiting game stinks 🙁 but I'm trying to remain hopeful. Gas anyone started to send LIO?

nope, everyday i check my mailbox and thinking 'maybe today.'

I hear you guys. As much as I tell myself not to expect anything until May, I can't help but hold my breath a little as I check the mailbox
 
Just got an email from Beth Ann.

"Status updates should be going out by email after March 15th, hopefully that Monday. We have to submit a tentative final roster to AMCAS on Friday, March 15th and we will know who we are keeping on the waitlist at that time."

Really hoping for an acceptance here.

Did you send her an email or did you just randomly receive this? I'm asking because I've been wait listed for a while and never received this email. Thanks!

I emailed her this morning and this was the reply I received.

This responds sounds like they are updating the waitlist but not accepting anyone still! Right? So more like giving out rejections. Ugh. This is so nerve racking

I disagree actually. I think they have already rejected folks post-interview that they definitely knew they wanted to reject. It sounds to me like they might figure out who they want to accept off of the waitlist versus keep on the waitlist.

I hope so too. I've been on the waitlist since November. Really hoping for good news soon.

I hope you are correct. Im trying to stay positive but sometimes it's hard. Good luck to all of us, I hope we can all get in and know soon.

Look back through the beginnings of this thread... I think somebody had some solid data on this somewhere.

Last year: ~2,500 OOS applicants, ~250 OOS interviews, ~40 OOS matriculants

(I'm rounding so as to not exactly quote MSAR... if that matters.)

However, that 40 number is for MATRICULANTS... not accepted. The accepted number would obviously be a good bit larger. Again, flip through the previous parts of this thread (or maybe last years). I think there's more data somewhere.

This is the data from 2010 I saw in last year's thread:

2762 OOS applied, 270 interviewed, 100 accepted and 44 enrolled.

Also, judging from Mrs. McCormick's email....do you guys think this means they will be accepting people from WL or rejecting from WL?

I thought it was more of an "updated waitlist" Not sure if that means accepting applicants from it or not. I'm trying to stay positive. March 15 can't get here fast enough!!!!
 
hey does anyone have any idea of how many people are taken out of consideration after the interview?
 
I emailed her and this is what she said to me:

"We do not rank our waitlist and therefore I cannot tell you where you are on the list. The committee will be submitting a roaster to AMCAS on March 15th and after that we will see who stays and who withdrawals. When we have a withdrawal we go to the waitlist to fill the open slot and this could occur until the start of school. AMCAS has one policy and that is that those applicants holding multiple slots need to let schools know if they are or are not going to their school on May 15th. This is a time we see a lot of movement.
Hope this information helps you understand the procedure."

So translation ?!! What do you all get out of this? That the class is full? -_-

I read it as the class is full interviews are over and that from now on movement on the wait-list will occur once people decline acceptances which they believe the majority of movement will occur on May 15th. But thats just my interpretation I could be wrong

Yeah that's what sounds like to me too. The class is full and we r only getting in if others decline their seats
 
I came across this for last years thread:

"From what I understand, the week of March 12th was when final decisions were made and I assume some acceptances were in there. She said they would send out letters the week of the 19th. That's what Mrs. McCormick e-mailed me with. I'm hoping to hear."

Im a California resident. Hispanic with avg stats. 3.7GPA, 30MCAT.
I was looking on this thread and see that this school is in state heavy but does accept some OOS. Are the OOS acceptances usually neighboring states or people with strong state ties?
Like i mentioned, im from CA, with ZERO state ties. trying to compile my list of schools for the 2013-2014 cycle. if i have a very slim shot i would rather not apply.

Hey I have a similar profile as you. I am an MA resident, also Hispanic. my GPA was 3.85 and I got a 30 on the MCAT as well. I have no state ties either and mentioned that in my application. I interviewed here during the first week of December (maybe the 3rd) and was placed on WL the next week. We are obviously two different people but I wanted to let you know that based just on this information you have a shot. Good Luck!

They do look for strong state ties and neighboring states, but they interview others as well. Most OOS students get waitlisted so its hard to tell what they look for in OOSers. The one good thing about WVU is that they reject pre-secondary and secondary = interview so if they don't want to interview you you won't have to pay the secondary fee so you won't lose much money if you do apply and they don't interview you.

I'm a fl resident, No ties to the state I got offered an Interciew and am now on the WL. You have very solid stats. Esp if you have good ECs and a lot of sercive..they are big on that at WVU. So my advice is apply! If they aren't interested they won't see you a secondary so that saves you money. Good luck to you!

Being Hispanic also obviously helps your case, but even more so at WVU as it can be quite difficult to attract a 'diverse' class to West Virginia. You should undoubtedly apply. It's a great school.
 
Just a thought here...

Assuming ~250 OOS candidates were interviewed once again this year, there is a pretty decent representation of those on SDN, as the lists above contain ~30 OOS candidates listed on the waitlist.

Now if WVU is to submit an initial class list to AMCAS by mid-March, that means ~40 OOS students will be on it. However, to date not a single person listed on the waitlist above has indicated they have been accepted. Does this seem really strange to anybody else? Either WVU somehow managed to pick all non-SDN students OR some of the above have been accepted and have just not indicated as much.

OR... a decent round of OOS acceptances is just around the corner.

There's been 3-4 OOSers on here that got in already, myself included.
 
I was waitlisted but I still add WVU when I fill out the FAFSA right? Also, there's no distinction between undergrad WVU and WVU Med school right?
