Thank you for the advice/support. I'm going to make that my project for the rest of today.

Dartmouth receives 3000 letters of intent over the next week.

To all of you with long waits:

Don't lose hope. Dartmouth does NOT do silent rejections. I know this process can be brutal, but here is a rule of thumb about DMS: No new is good news.

The admissions process here is pretty complex, but the idea is that they don't want to let go of strong applicants who might get an interview later in the season when the applicant pool looks different than it does today.

If you talk to students here, you will find that many of us were complete in July/August and then got interview invites out of the blue in Feb/March. It's not ideal, but that's how it works here. Again, the idea is to keep a level playing field between early applicants and later applicants.

I was just wondering this too... And whether they tend to reject in big batches or slowly as applications are being reviewed?

I have a question regarding replying to e-mails sent from the school admissions office.

So I sent an in-the-area e-mail to Dartmouth and received a very prompt response within a day (saying that the staff has notified the committee of the travel plan but not sure when my file will be reviewed). Should I reply to this e-mail to thank the staff for the prompt response to be polite, or do you think it's better to not respond? I don't want to burden their e-mail inbox with an insubstantial e-mail. What if the name of the staff was signed in the e-mail?
 
Dont. They are busy enough. What you should have (ir did) was thank them in your initial email.

For those who have been here from OOS...

I'm flying in all the way from California and would like to take only 2 days off work for the interview. This is definitely one of the toughest-to-plan itineraries ever. LEB doesn't give any convenient options, so I'm thinking of flying to BOS, then taking the Dartmouth Coach (a 3 hour bus ride)... But that seems like such a hassle, so I'm considering just spending an extra night. Is there an easier way? What else have other OOS interviewing applicants done?

When's your interview date? I looked at it and there is almost no economical way to be out of there by the end of the interview day. I'm flying out of Boston the next morning.
 
First time poster...hope I did this correctly :x.
But I got an II on the 10th too. Booked a flight already but totally regretting it because I booked it for MHT and found out there's no shuttle to Hanover after the time I arrive. Any suggestions on how I should get there?
Also, when you contact the student host how long does it take them to respond back? I sent an e-mail on Thursday and haven't gotten back anything yet...wondering if it's just cause they're busy.
 
What time did the interview day generally end? I just want to make sure I'm OK for my travel arrangements! 🙂
 
Hey everyone. First time poster. But just got the acceptance e-mail from Geisel at 9:03 this morning. Pretty ecstatic right now and in shock a little bit.

I interviewed on 9/24, re-applicant with ~3.5, 33 MCAT.

Thanks. I interviewed around 3 weeks after you (3 weeks from today) and am wondering if I was considered for this initial offer or maybe we are up next. I believe its probably the former and I was passed up, so I am a bit bummed!
 
Congrats on all those getting acceptances! Makes me excited for some reason to know it's that time lol.


Also, does Dartmouth wait until later on in the season to send out preinterview rejections (e.g. like Emory)? I've been wondering if I should consider this a silent rejection or not. Complete early August.
 
Woah, I didn't know Geisel would be sending decisions this early! 😱 Congrats to everyone accepted!!!

I interviewed on Oct. 8... surely it's too early for me to hear? 😕
 
rejection via email today (no interview). kinda bummed but I knew I was reaching for Dartmouth. Congrats to everyone accepted!

I called them and explained the situation, and got the invitation four days later. But they did not take my preferred date into consideration. But they did say they'd try their best over the phone.
