2013-2014 The Commonwealth Medical College

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The email was for those that had been deferred from previous committee meetings. They will update deferred statuses on the 17th with final decisions or alternate list. I still get the feeling that they have very nearly filled their class and are waiting for a few holdouts that haven't accepted/reject offers yet. From the last year, there was very little movement late in the game, so personally I'm not too optimistic, but I know it's not worth guessing either way until the decision is in the books. Good luck to everyone still waiting and I hope you are each one of the lucky few!

Same timeline status. I am crossing my fingers on that day. It will be judgement day! I am sure most of us will get in :)
"Most of us will get in."

What makes you say that? I hope you are right!

I received the email as well. From last year's thread, it seems after the notification most got waitlisted. I hope that's not the case this year! I hope we all hear some good news soon! In the meantime, stay positive :)

65 matriculated, but only 56 matched. 14% of students didn`t match after 4 years of medical school. Call it how you want, but "inability to teach" is one of the most contributing factors when one considers match results (in addition to the IQ of students). Good luck with the campus lottery and other funny things!

Take a look at TCMC's 2014 match list: http://www.thecommonwealthmedical.com/ResidencyMatch

Now let's compare those to the SUNY lists I could find,

I would say they are comparable. As a graduating MS4 at TCMC, my education was not perfect and a big reason my class matched as well as we did was our own hard work. That being said, I feel very well prepared to enter a very competitive residency thanks to my 4 years at TCMC.

Idk about comparable, but looks good nonetheless

I hope the admissions committee will be utilizing the national acceptance report that was available on April 1st to be able to assist or guide them on who to accept to the college. I haven't gotten a single acceptance and if accepted would absolutely go their in a heartbeat.

National Acceptance Report:
•The National Acceptance Report (April 1)
This report lists all applicants with a current Acceptance or Matriculated action

Wow, so much this. TCMC was my top choice and I have not been accepted elsewhere either. I didn't know this was a thing but it would be awesome if they consider folks who don't currently have another option.

From the website onto the insight of how they do the admissions process:

The Admissions Committee will establish minimum ranks for acceptance, placement on the waitlist and rejection but may adjust the admit rank as the season progresses to ensure the correct number of applicants are admitted. As withdrawals occur, the Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs in consultation with Chair of the Admissions Committee selects students from the waiting list.

When are March interviewees expected to receive status updates?

I didn't get the financial aid yet - what is in-state tuition now?
Side-by-side comparison.

How are we supposed to accept our financial aid award? Do you guys still have access to the tcmedc portal where the fin. aid info was originally posted?

Hey guys, first year here again, I noticed that they allocated several thousand dollars for "transportation" as you are the first class that is required to have proof that you can get yourself places (there are 3 students in our class without driver's licenses)

Wait, are they requiring us to have a driver's license and car prior to 3rd year? We need to meet this requirement to matriculate? They haven't mentioned this to us incoming students at all! I have family/friends that are going to help me get to and from places during community weeks as I learn to drive during the pre-clinical years. I'd definitely have my own car and driver's license before MS3.

when did you interview?

the drivers license requirement was in our folders during interviews

Not in my folder! Does the requirement state that we need a license to matriculate or just by 3rd year? Could you (or anyone else) please scan it and post it up here? I'd really appreciate it.

Did anyone else have info about this requirement in their interview folder?

:wtf: Hmm I interviewed in September and I definitely didn't have this in my interview folder either and I literally kept everything from interview day....I'd also appreciate it if someone would post the requirement for those of us who didn't get it. Thanks! :)

Thanks @meetmymuse

I can't believe they forgot to put one of these in my folder! I better hurry and squeeze some driving practice in so I can take/pass my road test before classes start.

I interviewed early January, and was deferred in February. I guess I'll find out my fate this week :scared:
Right there with you! Interviewed Late October, deferred Dec! Finger's Crossed!

I just got an email saying I'm on the alternate list.... Better than a rejection I guess. Does anyone know how many people were accepted off the wait list last year?

I'm on the alternate list too - I assume this is the same thing as 'wait list'?

I was waitlisted too. Blah. Does anyone know how they rank their waitlist? Or is it ranked?

I feel like this is the end...

Your application has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee and they have asked that I share their decision with you.

After carefully reviewing your application, the Admissions Committee has elected to place you on our alternate list. Please note it is our firm policy not to disclose where students are on the alternate list. Your application will remain active unless you notify us that you wish to withdraw.

We recognize that this is a difficult position in which to be. I would like to assure you that we will be in contact with you as soon as possible should a position in the class become available.

I wonder if it is a coincidence that a lot of people are getting wait listed or if it is that they are running out of acceptance offers and have to now wait for people to hold only once acceptance before taking people off of the wait list.

Hi everyone, I was accepted this morning and will be attending. Best of luck, and I hope you all get good news soon!

Alternate list. Please Lord let their be lots of movement on it

Anybody who interviewed march 11? I'm guessing that since I haven't heard anything a rejection is in the mail?

I also interviewed March 11 and have not heard back. Anticipating a rejection letter...

So I was told through email by the admissions office that I would receive a final decision on my application by today (4/17), but have yet to get an email. It seems like a couple people received their emails already today. I guess I'm just bugging out, wondering why I didn't get anything. I assumed I'd be notified regardless of what the decision was. Anyone have any advice? Should I wait out the day or contact admissions?

I think rejection comes through snail mail :( Will withdraw today . Good luck to everyone out there. Keep pushing!!

Same boat as you.

Haven't heard back either :/ I don't know if I should be panicking.
