2013-2014 University of Kentucky Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Also made the alternate list. Hope a spot opens up and I hear something soon!

Did you guys receive confirmation emails when they receive your reply forms?

Did anyone get a financial aid offer yet? Anyone know if we can expect to receive it before May 15?

Also, a few posts back someone posted that UK was planning to issue this year's match results in one of the Admitted Newsletters. However, I just received issue 9 and still no word about the match. I can't find anything useful by googling it either. Has anyone been able to find this info?

So, where the hell do people live for UK? What are the good, quieter (not undergrad-filled) apartments within walking distance of the medical school?

I think this may depend on your definition of "walking distance." I do know that most people walk (or more frequently bus) to med/pharm school because of the traffic and parking situation in the morning. I don't live in lexington, but I always hear about newtown crossing, places on red mile, etc. They are nice from what I have seen. Not exactly a short stroll down the street to the hospital though.

University Village is within walking distance and from what I hear is mostly filled with medical/dental/pharm students. Places like Red Mile, Newtown Crossing, etc. are nice but are definitely filled with undergrads (usually pretty wild on the weekends) and it's a pretty good walk from campus, a lot of people ride the bus to campus from those complexes.

Agreed. I lived at University Village my last year of undergrad and it was very nice. No one really partied and even if they did it wasn't very often or even loud.

Nope. I'm not going to expect to hear until the 16th at the very least. On another note, has anyone found or been given a sample schedule? All I can find are key dates and general info on the website.

I'm withdrawing my acceptance after receiving my Ohio State acceptance. OOS, white, 3.7 GPA, 37 MCAT. Really tough choice in that I loved Lexington, I loved that new hospital, and I loved the people I've met who are matriculating. But 64k a year is tough to justify for any school. Sad day.

Hopefully my spot goes to one of you!

For those of you in the class of 2018 facebook group, do you find that there is critical information on there that is not available elsewhere? I am not on facebook and really don't want to start a facebook account. I figure they would email people with any super important information, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing information that I need.

I started the Facebook group, so it's not school run or anything! It's mostly just incoming M1s looking for housing, getting to know each other, setting up trivia/karaoke teams. Good group of folks but nothing super important.

Great, thanks!

I was told the list is moving considerably slower now. :/ Most of us might be out of luck by now.

Out of State accepted today off the wait list.
3.1 ugrad, 3.5 grad 31 MCAT
I will likely be giving back this seat though to attend my more affordable instate school.

I guess I'll see you in august! I'm also taking Ohio State over UKY due to cost.

Did you call?

Email. They said most people, by this time, have made up their decisions. Most people that will reject their offer now are people that are accepted elsewhere from a wait list. That's a pretty slim bunch, though . . .

is this school OOS friendly if you have no ties?

Dont give up yet - I just withdrew so theres a spot opening up tomorrow. Hopefully it goes to one of you guys.

Also, if youre looking for a place to rent, message me! Got a room close to the medical campus available (University Village)

Good luck guys!
