From Bruits:

Hi guys, I heard on the grapevine that they have been sending a few acceptances each week for the past several weeks. The initial class should be full by the end of April, and then waitlists/rejections come out (like in previous years). Wishing you all the best.

I think it's pretty clear they are accepting only the cream of the crop right now. Congrats to everyone accepted! 😀 You're all stellar applicants.

This average Joe over here will have to wait much longer to hear, I think 🙄

It seemed to me based on what was said during the interview orientation that re-applicants are viewed relatively favorably at UMass. I mean, favorably as compared to what people say about re-applicants here on SDN in general. Did anyone else get that sense? Any re-applicants with any anecdotes?

I am a reapp with a 72 LizzyM score, but silence post-interview. I have been fortunate to have a moderately succesful reapp cycle, but the silence here is definitely demoralizing. UMASS WHY DON'T YOU LOVE ME???

I'm a reapp as well. mid december interview and have heard nothing still. my stats aren't the greatest so i hope they are just choosing the cream of the crop and then giving out acceptances to us lesser mortals in the coming weeks?

I heard they have umass and northeastern biases. Anyone from there heard back?

Haven't posted on this thread before, but thought I'd share my experience.

I'm a reapp, inteviewed mid november and accepted about a week later. Low GPA, high MCAT. Nothing stellar about my app, but I was really confident after the MMI.

I'm from one of those schools... and no. Dead silence. I interviewed early Dec. Umass send me some love soon 🙁

slowly losing hope... ~34ish or so spots left counting the md/phD spots

anybody know how many students Umass accepts in total?

According to Compass on U.S. News:
UMass interviews 596
Accepts 199 total
125 enroll

So taking into consideration that there are about 86 (predicted) or so acceptances offered so far... It's far from over 🙂

Wow, I didn't realize it was that much. That's a 1 in 3 chance post-interview (assuming all things equal).

Interesting, I wonder how U.S. News collects its information. I thought during interview day the staff noted that they accept closer to 140-150 students, depending on the year. The reason I remember is because the number was shockingly low, especially compared to some of the private schools I interviewed with. Of course, I could have misinterpreted something else they were telling us.

One thing for sure, turning down the acceptance to Umass would certainly be very difficult. I can't think of anything negative about the program that would make me not want to attend, even over schools like Emory or the Ivy Leagues.

Side note: it is interesting how much thought and research is put into selecting a medical school. I can't even remember my criteria for selecting my undergrad.

They sent a financial aid email and didn't suppress the recipient list...haha.

Haha, like a creep, I'm scrolling through the names to see if I recognize any of them. I don't, but I DO find a really fantastic one. Look for the guy with the initials JSD. So good!

Obviously he was destined for this haha

Oh man, I've been trying so hard not to think about decisions that I completely forgot today was FRIDAY. >_<

Is there something special about Friday?
