If you don't get a phone call by 5:30 eastern, don't freak out! My phone call didn't come in until around 6:30pm, and I'm east coast. I'm pretty sure my interviewer called me from their home. Good Luck! Is anyone considering matriculating at Miller for sure if they get the call tomorrow?

Very strong possibility. I'm sitting here hoping for a bit of love in the form of a scholarship... but who the heck am I kidding? I would be grateful for an acceptance!

Yeah, he asked me questions like "Why do you think STDs are still so prominent in our society?" I gave him an answer then he asked me "Let's role play- if you were the president, how would you reduce it?"

"What do you think if the US adopted a healthcare policy like that of the UK or Canada?"
"What affect will ACA have on future physicians?"
"How do you feel about the ACA?"
"What would you do if a patient has no insurance?"

Among others.. but he was really nice. My advice would be to think before you speak, be confident in your answer.. try to explain and support your responses.

I've had the same status since September as some others in this thread - "Your application to the UM Miller School of Medicine is complete and currently being reviewed by the Admissions Committee." I am IS public school GPA ~3.9 MCAT >35. Just wondering if this is normal for Miami. If anyone has knowledge from previous cycles...

Hey methodical - if I were you, I would shoot an email to our admissions committee to express your interest / undying love for Miami, if you haven't already. I know current students with both higher and lower stats than you. Miami really values certain non-numerical criteria (leadership, community service, unique non-medical hobbies), so maybe update the school on anything new you've done in those areas. It won't hurt, but it may help score you an interview.

But seriously, seems like the don't really reject people. You get thrown on a big alternate list and reconsidered every meeting.
It is now 5... the real waiting begins!

Your interviewer or the 4th year student who was in your interview will call you if you have been accepted.

Pretty bummed right now.. They sent me an email in Dec saying they were delayed so expect to hear back in Jan. Kinda wished they would update the status page 🙁...

But it seems as if some people got a call as late at 6:30 so who knows?

I would only panic if you don't hear anything by like 7:00pm. Even then, no need to panic - 60% acceptance rate post interview. errrrrryonnneee chilll 😀

Sorry! I was so excited I was trying very hard to listen to what she was saying. She only told me because I said "Oh thank you...I was so worried because I was expecting the call at 5:30. I was freaking out." Then she told me "I didn't mean to make you wait and freak out! They gave me a list of names to call."

So to answer your questions- She did said she was calling from a list but I am not sure if she is the only one calling.

"Final decision" just means that your application has been scored. It does NOT mean an action of accept, reject, waitlist, etc has been made. This score, is basically a ranking - and at each ADCOM meeting, the top 20 ranked applicants receive an acceptance. So, if you haven't heard anything, it means you are somewhere on the list beneath the top 20 who were accepted tonight. If your score is 21 or 33, and no one else has a higher score than you from subsequent interviews from hereonout, then you'll get an acceptance on the next ADCOM date.

Looking back at past acceptance dates (Dec 11 for example) there were several people who received the alternate list email that same evening....

thanks for this. i get what you're saying and you may be right. but just from my pov, they just told me last week i'd hear from them today. they didn't say if you're waitlisted you'll hear the following day, etc. it was "either way, january 22nd." who knows.
