If you don't get a phone call by 5:30 eastern, don't freak out! My phone call didn't come in until around 6:30pm, and I'm east coast. I'm pretty sure my interviewer called me from their home. Good Luck! Is anyone considering matriculating at Miller for sure if they get the call tomorrow?

Very strong possibility. I'm sitting here hoping for a bit of love in the form of a scholarship... but who the heck am I kidding? I would be grateful for an acceptance!

Among others.. but he was really nice. My advice would be to think before you speak, be confident in your answer.. try to explain and support your responses.

Hey methodical - if I were you, I would shoot an email to our admissions committee to express your interest / undying love for Miami, if you haven't already. I know current students with both higher and lower stats than you. Miami really values certain non-numerical criteria (leadership, community service, unique non-medical hobbies), so maybe update the school on anything new you've done in those areas. It won't hurt, but it may help score you an interview.

So 2 or so hours? I keep telling myself I will probably get wait listed so I won't be so disappointed if I do not get an acceptance.

Do you guys know anyone who I can get in contact with for interview housing of some nature? I have mine on 2/3/14 and it would save me near $200 for one night.

I believe they have instructions in the hubspring portal. They hook you up with a student host.
 
thread is awfully quiet considering that people who didn't get in the previous rounds have a chance today as well

Rejection= "We will mail a burning bag of poo to your door."
But seriously, seems like the don't really reject people. You get thrown on a big alternate list and reconsidered every meeting.
It is now 5... the real waiting begins!
 
One of my friends got in just 5 minutes ago! He doesn't post much on here, so I thought I would share for all of you who are anxiously waiting to hear back. Best of luck to ya'll!!

No idea. I just know the first round got an email the same night

Your interviewer or the 4th year student who was in your interview will call you if you have been accepted.
 
Pretty bummed right now.. They sent me an email in Dec saying they were delayed so expect to hear back in Jan. Kinda wished they would update the status page 🙁...

But it seems as if some people got a call as late at 6:30 so who knows?

I would only panic if you don't hear anything by like 7:00pm. Even then, no need to panic - 60% acceptance rate post interview. errrrrryonnneee chilll 😀

Okay, now that I got that out of my system. Here's the deal- the person who called was NOT my interviewer. I was so excited I didn't even hear her name but I think she is the only one calling the applicants. She has been calling since 5 so if you did not hear yet, don't freak out just yet. She is going down the list.

Good luck guys! I look forward to meeting you in the fall!

Congrats! Did she specifically say she's calling down the list and that she's the only one calling?

Sorry! I was so excited I was trying very hard to listen to what she was saying. She only told me because I said "Oh thank you...I was so worried because I was expecting the call at 5:30. I was freaking out." Then she told me "I didn't mean to make you wait and freak out! They gave me a list of names to call."

So to answer your questions- She did said she was calling from a list but I am not sure if she is the only one calling.

Don't people get an email saying they are wait listed or rejected the same day as acceptances? I've seen others get an email by 6 pm before. What in the world is going on today...?
 
excuse my lack of control at this point... but WTH IS GOING ON?? i called last week and they said "january 22nd, either way." now what?! is there anyone else in this boat??
 
nothing here either... i'm a little disappointed. i interviewed early november, so i've been counting down the days for a while.

same.. i interviewed in november too. this seems so messed up. first there's a final decision but don't say what it is. and it's like fine i can deal with that. but then they don't tell you the final decision when the day finally comes??
 
Does anyone know what the usual protocol is on decision day? Don't wait listed candidates hear back around the same time as accepted candidates?

This needs some clarification, and I hope that for everyone's sanity, people review the posts in this thread before panicking!

"Final decision" just means that your application has been scored. It does NOT mean an action of accept, reject, waitlist, etc has been made. This score, is basically a ranking - and at each ADCOM meeting, the top 20 ranked applicants receive an acceptance. So, if you haven't heard anything, it means you are somewhere on the list beneath the top 20 who were accepted tonight. If your score is 21 or 33, and no one else has a higher score than you from subsequent interviews from hereonout, then you'll get an acceptance on the next ADCOM date.

Looking back at past acceptance dates (Dec 11 for example) there were several people who received the alternate list email that same evening....

thanks for this. i get what you're saying and you may be right. but just from my pov, they just told me last week i'd hear from them today. they didn't say if you're waitlisted you'll hear the following day, etc. it was "either way, january 22nd." who knows.
