2013-2014 University of Miami (Miller) Application Thread

So my status is continuing to be "a final decision has been made" but I haven't gotten a phone call or email. Of course they did manage to fail to send me an email even telling me when I had been accepted for an interview (I only found out because I logged back into the actual application). Should I be expecting something or just call them?

I didnt get the II email either. I know that my interviewer is out of town so someone else gave me a call. Just hang tight, you may hear something tonight or tomorrow. If not give them a call.

On another note, is there a facebook group for accepted students?

Hmmm, there's usually a facebook group for everything so probably! Thanks for the answer...guess I'll give them a call tomorrow if I don't hear anything.

There is a facebook group, but I was invited by some current medical students.. They'll probably invite you soon 🙂

Woke up to an II in my inbox this morning...was not expecting anything this late in the cycle! Submitted 8/3/13, complete 8/21/13.

And, not to stir up the neuroticism of this site any more, but just last night I logged in to check my application status for the first time in about 4 months (like I said, I'd all but given up on on an II). It's a little too coincidental...

Also received an ii!this is pretty late in the cycle to get ii isn't it? Do I still have a chance at this point or is it essentially for the wait list?

Accepted on Wednesday... Hadn't had time to post here but very excited. Finally! I can be sure that I'm going to be a doctor

Congrats!!! That's awesome! Would you mind sharing what dates remain available? Best of luck to you!

The ones I'm being offered are: 3/14, 3/17, 3/21, 3/28, and 3/31. GAH, booking a flight this last minute will not be cheap.

Way back in August! Was definitely surprised to get it. anyone know If there's still a good chance at acceptance this late in the game?

Yup, your chances are more or less the same. If you are a stellar applicant, you will get in regardless because they accept the top 20 ranked interviewees per acceptance date. There are 2 dates left which means 40 seats up for grabs. (Idk how many MPH/MD vs MD only though.)

Can anyone comment on research opportunities here? Miller seems to have a lot in regards to genetics, genomics, immunology, etc, but not so much in the biomedical imaging research area , such as with mri, ct, etc or in bio engineering. Is there much opportunity in either if these?I could have missed something on the website

So Miami has accepted 160 so far and will accept 20 more on March 19th then 20 more on April 23rd

Doesn't that conflict with the March 30th rule? Or since these are recommendations by AAMC, and not a strict requirement, it is ok?

"4. By March 30 of the matriculation year, March 15 for M.D.-Ph.D. programs, each school or program have issued a number of offers of acceptance at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year entering class and have reported those acceptance actions to the AAMC Section for Medical School Application Services."

Well they will have 180 accepted before March 30 and I'm pretty sure that's over their entering class size.

Here's a graph (non-scientific, MS-Paint) that summarizes my emotions on every admission day so far after being wait-listed:

Will there be any more interview invitations sent out? Or was yesterday the last group?

Their final class size is 196 so it's not over their entering class size (unless you mean their charter class... in which case, I have no idea).

Edit: Or is it 198? Well, it's close to 200...

interviewing here next week... i've received a couple rejections from other schools post interview this cycle and was wondering what your thoughts were on emailing these admissions offices and asking them if they could give me any feedback specifically related to my interview. is that an appropriate thing to ask if i explain i'm still interviewing in this cycle?

Can anyone discuss the interview process here? On the itinerary it looks like there's just one interview for an hour, is this correct? Is it just one on one?

Does anyone know how long the interview season is here? I was complete in late July and my status has read "Your application has been reviewed by the admissions committee. Applicants will be invited to interview based upon their point total from the Admissions Committee review...." since October.

I had one on two where there was a faculty and a fourth year student in the room with me

I was wondering the same thing. Are they going to keep us in limbo forever?

Office of Admissions said the last interview date will be 3/28, although someone posted earlier that when they were scheduling their interview a 3/31 date was made available. So end of this month!

Mine is still "being reviewed"... sigh...

When's the next round of decisions? When (if we're lucky) will we get the phone call?
