Congrats! Did you find out via email or status change?

I have a question for anybody.. So my status previously said "..have been reviewed and at this time a decision has not been made'"

Logged in today and noticed that status is completely gone and now there is nothing in its place. I can still see everything checked off but I literally have no status.

Any idea whats going on? Thanks

Oooh I think this happened to a few people before they got II's! GL!

That would be amazing but unfortunately I have low stats so I'm not expecting to hear from Miami any time soon. Though I do feel I had really great responses to their secondary questions. I guess the name of the game is patience.

I've got lower-sided stats, too. You're not alone 🙂 Hopefully we'll hear some good news soon.

How low are we talking?

I have a 30 MCAT and a 3.3 c/sGPA and I was invited in mid-august for an interview. I should also point out that I did not identify myself as URM on my applications.

Better GPA, worse MCAT. Id say I have really strong ECs but my MCAT will probably hold me back at some schools unwilling to look past it.

For those of you that have recieved II's and are comfortable with sharing, would you mind posting your MCAT/GPA? I'm curious to know if there is anyone out there with stats like mine already with an interview at UMiami.

What I'm thinking: I'm not entirely sure how "against the grain" I am, though I realize my MCAT/GPA are well below the average of last years entering class at UMiami - I'm hoping this might provide some insight.

YankeeBean: MCAT: 30 S, GPA 3.3 (science and cumulative)

YankeeBean, if I were you I wouldn't expend energy worrying about the people better than you. The average is 32,3.75. Ya, you're quite a bit lower so you're inquiries are only going to trigger more neuroticism which is the last thing you need right now. I'm a bit above their averages and I haven't heard anything and I thought I wrote everything to the best of my ability and that I was a great fit! I think you should take that interview invite and wear it with confidence. Prepare well and thoroughly and go in there ready to bring what you wrote on paper into life! That's all they're looking for! I know an AdCom and he tells me he is amazed at how so few are able to do that effectively. To generalize, (because this is only true at some schools) the stats will get you there in a seat but the interview will determine your acceptance/waitlist/rejection status. Re-read your PS to remind yourself how awesome you are and go into your interview ready to talk about it!

Could not have said it better myself! Confidence is key! Nervousness will achieve nothing. Be yourself and stay true to what you wrote on paper! Thanks for that reminder Backtothebasics!

I agree, but I have also noticed that those who are getting invites early have research on their resume...at least those who posted their ECs. And if they didn't, their MCAT was over 30. And yes, I am an SDN private eye. If you post you have an II, I will perform SDN background checks 🙂

I am in the exact same boat... so frustrating. :/

Still don't have any status text at all under the check-marks and am trying to stay composed. >>

So early this morning I checked the status page, and it said that my app was currently being reviewed. Now I just checked again, and it says:

Dang that was so quick! Is this good or bad? :scared:

I have the first sentence of this status and then it says a final decision about your application has not been reached.

Your Application to the UM Miller School of Medicine is complete and is currently being reviewed by the Admissions Committee.
Since the end of July. Do they delay the reviewing of OOS applicants.

Did any of you have to send your photograph via e-mail? If so, do you get a confirmation e-mail back from the admissions office?

Yup and yup! They want the photo sent via email according to the secondary instructions. I sent mine in on August 9th (a Friday) and they sent me the photo receipt confirmation email that Monday (the 12th). =]

Has anyone else never had a status on their status page? All I have seen since I submitted my app in the beginning of August has been check marks, but no status...

I've been one of those people who have only had checks since my application was complete 7/25, just today I finally got a message that I'm under review! Fingers crossed!

My statuses have been a rollercoaster. First I was under review, then put on hold, and then today I see Im under review again having recently had no status at all.

Not sure if its good bad or neutral, but hey at least its exciting

Eeek, same here! Complete since 8/12 and my status just changed to "under review" today.

Woooo Complete 8/4 and finally under review today! How long does this initial stage last? Do they II/hold/reject generally pretty quickly?

Depends. I have been "under review" since late july and still nothing. However, some people received II after being under review for only under a week and they were complete in august.. it's confusing.

Does anyone know if the interview will be open or closed file?

I haven't had a status on my status page and I was complete back in late July. However, I just got a message today that I am under review.

"Your Application is currently under review by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine."

I am hoping for an II soon. Best of luck to all of us!

My status just changed to this as well! They still haven't added my picture to my file, though. How long do they usually take to review?

My status page says that my application is not complete because they haven't processed my photograph (I haven't received their receipt e-mail after e-mailing them my photograph this past Sunday).

HOWEVER, the status page also says that both my MD and MPH applications are currently under review.

I'm confused!

Finally I am "under review"!
I was worried that they were just going to ignore my application! Lol

Does Miami tend to give interviews throughout the whole year? Or do they usually finish up around the winter time?

This was by far the most annoying secondary of them all. They basically ask you everything thats on your primary, their website sucks - everything runs on javascript and emailing them the photo and residency is the biggest pain ever. UM better get their stuff together... wow im so frustrated.

Probably won't even finish the secondary. I just gave up.

Wait... We have to email them residency? Where does it say that? 😕

I'm IS!! I don't remember seeing that in the instructions...

Most Public schools require their IS students to submit residency forms. However, they are usually used for determining tuition purposes.

Yeah sorry if i caused a panic. You Email them the residency if you're In state. They dont make a big deal of mentioning it but my friend submitted his application a month ago and they did not process it because he never E-mailed his residency, even though the secondary said everything was complete.

It's in there somewhere, most schools want it during the interview or before matriculation, but UM wants you to Email it to them when submitting the secondary.

How do we do that exactly?

Weird...I have been reviewed and scored for awhile now. Maybe I'll call and ask. I don't even know where the residency form is located.
