Anything this week??
Hello, can any current students tell me which books and materials are required for first year? Thank you.
I found a roommate and my husband is staying with his job and the house until it sells. All our stuff and our pets are being distributed amongst friends and family. Praying the house sells fast.So just curious...for those who were accepted last minute (i.e. right up to orientation), how do you handle housing, travel, etc. , especially if you are an OOS student? I would greatly appreciate anyone's input.
I spoke to the office of housing & residential life a while ago and was told that med students have to make special arrangements to live at WSU campus housing as their typical designated move in day is August 24th. I don't know if that has anything to do with the access ID issue-I ended up finding housing elsewhere. I would call their office, they were very helpful when I spoke to them.Has anyone else been having trouble accessing the Housing application? I keep getting an error saying that my access ID isn't in the system even though it's been approx a week since I got my access ID.

Is it too late to get housing? I'm not sure about those waitlist-ers who get in last minute. How difficult would it be for them to find housing anywhere at this point (campus or otherwise)? Thanks! I did end up calling them, and they helped me put in the info manually. 🙂

I don't know about campus housing. I believe finding other housing will be difficult, but doable, especially if you're flexible with what you're looking for. I believe most of the student-oriented private housing in Midtown will be unavailable for those who have yet to get off the waitlist (I got on the StudioOne waitlist in February and wasn't called off of it until the first week of June). With that said, there are a fair number of people leasing their condos/apartments in Midtown that it isn't impossible, it will just take some looking. Is it too late to get housing? Congrats!! I hope they can find one more spot for me🙁
Just got accepted off the wait list this morning.
IS 3.2 undergrad 3.7 grad 34 MCAT
For those of you IS, I am now matriculated into MSUCOM, but we did just have one of our IS classmates drop out last week because he got accepted at Wayne... so keep the hopes up! For me, I am about to take my first anatomy exam next week.. yikes! Good luck to everyone and I hope you get accepted somewhere! Just keep in mind that all you need is one school to believe in you and the rest is up to you on how you spend your years in medical school! I wasn't planning on going DO if I had an MD option, but I plan to work my ass off these next 4 years and make the most of my experience! 🙂
I very rarely post- but I think I speak for myself and those many others who follow this thread when I say that you are by far one of the most constructive and inspirational posters on this forum. I wish you the best of luck whether you are at Wayne or MSUCOM and in becoming a great physician.
Just got accepted off the wait list!!! Anyone know if there's a housing spreadsheet to help find a roommate this last minute?
About 40% live in Midtown or Downtown, the rest are scattered throughout the 'burbs all the way over to AA. I live in Ferndale and really like the areaDo the majority of students live around campus in the Midtown area or in Royal Oak?
IS or OOS?just received an acceptance off the wait list today!

Mind sharing IS/OOS and stats? When did you interview?
IS and I interviewed in early January. Was put on the alternate list.Mind sharing IS/OOS and stats? When did you interview?
Got pulled off the waitlist yesterday. Cannot believe it...I was seriously going to submit my AMCAS today. OOS 30/3.8
Now I got to scramble to move across the country in 3 weeks! Since I'm OOS, I'm concerned about finding housing last minute and whether or not I need to bring my car. From what it seems, it looks like the only housing available would be off-campus and little further from the campus, so I probably do need to bring my car. Also, what's the best way to go about finding housing? Our c/o 2018 FB page??
No, but finally got a snail mail letter yesterday saying as an alternate, they would welcome me to reapply next cycle.Just curious if anyone got in this week?

As I'm going to school in Ann Arbor starting next week, won't take them up on the offer.
Good luck to any reapplicants, sounds like Wayne encourages folks to reapply that were on the alternate list.
Just wanted to let you know that this is last years thread. You'll probably get more responses if you post in the thread for this cycle.I just got accepted off the alternate list today, but am now in the predicament of deciding between MSUCOM and Wayne. The pros and the cons seem to be equal for both. At Wayne I worry that there isn't as big of a community within the student body, but there is more opportunity for networking within their hospital networks (since I already have contacts in their networks). I also identify more with the DO philosophy, but still have reservations about the match process and residency merger (also having to take both COMLEX and USMLE) and my ability to specialize as a DO.
Thoughts, SDN friends? I'm super excited about my acceptance to Wayne and this is the best possible problem to have (I never thought I'd have a choice as to where I go to medical school!!), but wow is this stressful!
