2014-2015 Loyola University Chicago (Stritch) Application Thread

Can confirm!

No e-mail.

Definitely snail mail. Phone call if your interviewer "feels" like it basically. Can't wait to hear back!! This place was fantastic.

So there's no guarantee we get a call today, I thought they kept saying they love calling and will call? This blows I thought I'd know by the end of the day.

That's what the adcom told me. He said it's not a bad thing if you don't get a call. Snail mail is sent out within 48-72 hours of their "decision day". They told our group that ours was 11/3, so snail mail would reach us probs within a week.
Hopefully you get a call, but it doesn't mean anything besides your interviewer doesn't call people if you don't get one. I think it used to be the dean that called, but they swapped deans recently or something. Oh well. Good luck though, hope you hear good news!

I wanted to wish all acceptees today a big congratulations! Welcome to Class of 2019!
For all those who interviewed, please be patient -- they can only call so many people in one day 🙂
Just remember, it ain't over til it's over!!!!

The Dean called me. It was so awesome. She even remembered what we talked about on my interview day!

Jeez, I just want them to call me. This waiting is agonizing

Anyone not hear back yet who was interviewed in September....? This is so weird... They told me I would hear on October 15th.. obviously that means I didn't get in ..

I interviewed a few days ago. They specifically told me that ALL applicants are notified via snail mail. Some are notified via phone, depending on their interviewer. He stated that some interviewers simply prefer not to call applicants. Wait for the snail mail =D

Waiting is hard, but you've waited so long. Hopefully you have a pleasant surprise waiting in the mail the next few days!

Admin dean calls, not the interviewer

Yeah. So basically if we didn't get a call we are most likely getting snail mail saying we are rejected or wait listed... let's be honest.

I actually just called admissions. The woman said that they call everyone who is accepted...
At least she was honest and wasn't giving false hope. She said they send out letters of wait list/rejection next week.

I somehow doubt they call absolutely everyone who is accepted. Not that I'm saying she didn't tell you this...but I just don't necessarily think that's the case.

Obviously I don't know, but I feel that there are certainly people who are accepted via snail mail.

Absolutely correct. Loyola does a good job of sticking to their word-- all interviewees get a letter, some get a call and letter. Last cycle there was a good amount of ppl who didn't get calls but were accepted. We're also going through Dean changes and retirements, St. Luke's activities, etc... There just isn't enough hours in the day!

Did they call you?

Yep! Again-I don't know that every accepted applicant gets a call. Some get a letter in the mail only. It really depends. I know it's hard not to freak out! I wish you the best of luck!

When should letters of decisions be arriving? For those that have for sure been decided on...

It depends on when you interviewed. They usually send out letters within 48-72 hours after a decision has been made.

I'm talking very first week of interviews.

By the way, congrats!

Is it good news to still be under review 2 months after submitting? I love this school!

You could remain there until either 1) II or 2) Rejection (no idea if silent or late notification)

Another option is that you go to "has been reviewed", the hold status. I think people do still get II from this status, but then again, it's all case-dependent.

Hang in there! I submitted early-mid July, and stayed "under review" until about mid-late August, when I got an II. I definitely understand the stress. Lots of junk food and Netflix helps. I wish the best of luck to you!

Do you actually know about what time they met this evening?

Interview invite today via email!!! So excited, this is one of my top choice schools. Complete mid-July. Traditional non-URM, Jesuit undergrad, LizzyM below 70 (low MCAT), service-oriented ECs. I was on hold for probably a month-ish? But submitted an update/LOI last week, and obviously it helped me out! I did not notice whether I went back to the "under review status" or not. Good luck to everyone!
Congrats! 🙂 Did you send your LOI to the admissions email address? I couldn't find a place on the portal. Thanks!

Submitted an update sometime last week, is it normal for the portal to say "Update submitted: Updating current act"?

Also, did anyone receive a complete email from here or are all these complete dates just approximations based on when the supplemental app was submitted.

Submitted early august and still says under review

Do we know if they are receptive to in the area emails? My father is living in Chicago for work until December and I'm going to visit come late November.

Is there a facebook group for accepted applicants?

Been busy with Anatomy, but we can make one for you all!

Haha, I hope I didn't come off as implying that you guys should do it for us, as trying to pressure you! You guys are extremely busy, and even so, have been really helpful at answering our questions!! Just curious if there was one 🙂

When did you get hold status?

Has anyone received an acceptance letter in the mail yet?
I'm getting a little concerned that mine was lost x.x
I got the call on 10/15 and I only live 10 miles away from the school!

Withdrew today. Hopefully someone gets my interview spot. Good luck to everyone!

I live about 30 minutes from the school and haven't gotten one yet. No worries.

Complete mid-August and still haven't heard anything, not even a hold on the portal. LizzyM ~70, OOS. Has anyone had luck submitting updates? Wondering if I should submit one, but all I would really have to talk about is a new leadership experience in my research, one summer grade (A in upper level biochemistry), and midsemester grades. Any idea if that would be worth it?
