Any advice/tips for the interview and the ethics/healthcare questions? Was the feel of it pretty laid back? I'm starting to get nervous!!

I actually got no ethics/healthcare questions. Both interviewers mostly asked general interview questions like "how would people describe you" and "why medicine." Some people said that they got more specific questions about their application though. I'm sure it varies a lot from interviewer to interviewer. Personally, I would say the best thing you could do is to take some time to reflect on what you've done and what your motivations are, and to relax because the interviews were really laid back. Everyone who interviewed the same day as me said so, too!

Hope this helps 🙂

Placed on hold today via email. OOS, complete early september/late august, 69 LizzyM w/ MCAT retake.

On hold ("continue to review") email today for me too. OOS LizzyM <70. Never got an application complete email. Anyone have an idea of what your chances are when your put on pre interview hold for Penn state? From what I hear, what hold status means for your chances varies pretty wildly between different schools.... At least it's not a rejection? This is my third "hold" but no rejections yet...

Hm.. Im placed on hold as well. Is everyone who didnt get II so far placed on hold or did some ppl get rejected?

On hold as well today. Pretty disappointed as I'm in state and was hoping this would be a school that came through.

If last years thread is any indication, it doesn't seem like many applications come off the pre II hold list. The few that did were after the new year and near the end of the application cycle.

Same as everyone else..

On hold, OOS, LizzyM 70. Complete early August I believe

Same as above: On hold, IS, complete late August/early September if I recall correctly.

What does last year's thread say about people not on hold during this wave?

keep holding is what penn state is telling me

On hold today too. Complete late July (but I never got a complete email)

Ha I just figured because you read through in detail you might've picked that up. It was worth a shot. You're going to be a joy to collaborate with. I'll read and let others know what I find 🙂.
Excellent idea!😉

On hold pre-interview. Thought it was a rejection so I guess there's le hope.

Not to bring anyone's II down, but it really makes me mad Penn STATE doesn't seem to give much preference to people who are IS.
Isn't it a private school? What a confusion-inducing name of so!!

I read through a bit of the thread and couldn't seem to find a pattern of those of us not on hold after the first wave. It seems some were later put on hold, some were outright rejected around mid-November and some received Interviews...

Lol was I the only one who heard back today that was rejected? Anyway, GL to people on hold and who haven't heard back yet. No news can definitely be good news sometimes.

Were all of these holds sent earlier today, or are they still coming out?

Thanks! I was about to report that I didn't find a trend either but my phone died and I'm flying today. Well here's to finding out what it means!

Were you rejected post-interview?

Thank you!! This was very helpful 🙂

Lol, just saw the hold email in my junk mail

On Hold...Interview in september. Anyone know chances of acceptance of hold list. Don't think it's very high since they are rolling admissions.

When did you interview in Sept? the hold was in the form of an email? If hold means waitlist, I think I heard that they accept a bunch from the waitlist

Interview was September 12th. I'm pretty sure it is the waitlist but this is the e-mail.

The Admissions Committee has carefully reviewed your application and interview evaluations and placed your file on the “Hold List”. This designation indicates that your credentials warrant further consideration as the remainder of the applicant pool is evaluated. You should be aware that a subsequent decision will be based on the information presentlycontained in your file with the exception of updatedofficial transcript records.

Should your application remain active beyond the AMCAS reporting date of April 30, 2015, you will remain in the Hold category. If there are withdrawals prior to the start of classes, you may be considered for a position in the Entering Class of 2015. During this period it is important that the Office of Admissions has an updated mailing address and phone number where you can be contacted.

You will be promptly informed when a further decision is made. Due to the large number of applications, we encourage you to wait for this notification rather than call for information on your status.

We appreciate your interest in The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine.

Hmm...on my interview day, I was initially told that we would not hear back for 6-8 weeks, then by the end of the day this estimate changed to 8-10 weeks. I wonder which one it is going to be. Only 4 weeks in, but I am curious!
