Have an II in mid November. Any Buffalo students can chime in on the odds of a notorious lake effect snowfall that time of year? I would imagine that Buffalo clears out the airport fairly quickly.
It's very possible it will snow mid November but from my experiences in Western NY the big snowfall doesn't start until December!

For those who are interviewing tomorrow, good luck! As I said in previous posts, let me know if you have any questions about UB!

Anyone know the grading scheme at UB? is it pass fail for 2 years?

For the first two years, it's honors/high satisfactory/satisfactory/fail. However, I have to say that our class has been super chill, that all of us know step 1 is more important, and that preclinical grades don't matter much for residency application in the long term. I am uncertain how AOA at UB is given to students, but the bottom line is that most of us are not cut-throat at all and simply work hard everyday.

If you want the proof, talk to any of M1s during your interview day. Most of them will admit that medical school is hard but not because the grade scheme is not pass/fail, but because there are simply a lot of materials to cover, just like any other medical schools.

hows the interview here? conversational or interrogational (if that's even a word lol)?

Usually conversational.

It will be very relaxing, but at the same time, be ready to discuss (casually) about anything in your application with some examples/stories if you can. If all of your answers are short, it might be difficult for interviewers to make the interviews conversational, you know.

Apologies if this is mentioned previously in the thread - does anyone know if Buffalo is receptive to pre-interview application updates?

II today, 11/7. But, I am turning down the interview, so there will be another slot open in December. So, for the timeline, etc, Received Secondary 7/7, Submitted secondary 7/7...having no essay was great when I was mired in essays. Application complete on 7/16. LizzyM--70. It's a tad too cold in Buffalo for me.

I read some previous posts in this thread about in the area emails, but never saw a clear consensus about U Buffalo's policy on them. Does anyone know if SUNY Buffalo would be receptive to an in the area email?

anybody interviewing tomorrow and have no idea how they're getting to buffalo? i'll probably just tell them I can't make it and hope I can reschedule..

Believe it or not, the part of Buffalo where the medical school is located has been completely unaffected by this storm, whereas areas just 10 miles away have been utterly bombarded, which would be super surprising to me if it happened anywhere but here (you kind of come to expect these sorts of things after living here for so long). Not sure about the airport, but your best bet is to call the school and see what they say. I'm sure they'll be very understanding of the situation.

I'll be in the area at a couple points coming up, so I figured I may as well try sending an ITA email. got a response basically saying we'll see how the committee feels about you when they decide, so I don't think it was any help.

HA!!! My interview was scheduled on the day of the 60 inch snowstorm! Never got up there. Rescheduled but in the meantime got in somewhere else. Giving up my ii date & hope one of you get it!

Finally rejected pre-interview. Took them all of 6 months. Feels a lot better than the places that rejected me after 2-3 months. Good luck to everyone else still in the running!
