2014-2015 SUNY Buffalo Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
When I got the application is complete email it said: "Our last interview day of the year is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, 2015. We do not fill our entire class until after that date." I'm confused though because I thought that all schools have to send a number of offers of acceptance at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year entering class by March 15. Anyone know anything about this?
See, I thought that was May 15th (last year).... this year I know it's been moved to April 30th, which is why wait lists move after that day since everyone can only hold one acceptance too. Maybe I'm mistaken and you're referring to something else?

From "Application and Acceptance Protocols - Admission Officers" on the AAMC's website

4. By March 15 of the matriculation year, issue a number of acceptance offers at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year entering class and report those acceptance actions to AMCAS.
5. On or before April 30, permit ALL applicants (except for EDP applicants):
a. A minimum of two-weeks to respond to their acceptance offer.
b. To hold acceptance offers or a waitlist position from any other schools or programs without penalty (i.e. Scholarships).

"issue a number of acceptance offers at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year entering class"

I'm wondering if they're just counting 144 acceptances, regardless of responses. There has to be a number of students who get into the school they want to go to earlier than March 15th and withdraw from the other schools who have accepted them (UB included). If those count towards the acceptances, while still keeping a seat open, that's the only way I could see that working.

Is anyone else interviewing February 25th? Also, for people that already interviewed, what hotel did you stay at? I'm trying to find a good hotel with a student rate, thanks 🙂
I am!! 🙂

Ahhhh ok that makes sense

I applied in July and haven't heard anything and I'm instate. I have a 4.0 SGPA, but a 28 MCAT 🙁

Just got an ii this morning for early April . Was complete in early August, IS, LizzyM of 66. I won't be attending the interview. Hope it goes to one of u instead !! Good luck ! 🙂
omg I want... are you accepted somewhere else? Congrats to you!

Hey guys, MS2 here. Just wanted to drop by and tell everyone here to keep your head up. Remember, Buffalo has a LOT of waitlist movement so there's no need to fret just yet. If any of you have any questions for me, don't hesitate to message me or post a question on this forum.

Also, on a side note, for any of you who are accepted (lucky you) and are decided on UB, I am looking for a roommate next year. Message me if you're interested!

Just got a II from here for early April after being complete since October. Most likely going to withdraw

Did anybody get an II here who applied close to the 2º deadline?

Does anyone know when to expect the earliest waitlist movement? I was browsing older threads and saw some March and April acceptees from the WL, and this was with the old 5/15 deadline.

If we are on the waitlist, can we send in any updated info or letter of intent?

Does anyone know when the white coat ceremony would be?

This is the school I want to hear back from the most, the silence is the worst. We only gotta hold out for a few more weeks guys!

From the application complete email:
"The Admissions Committee will evaluate your application anytime between now and March 31st. It is a random review process. The "time factor" has no impact on our decision-making. Our last interview day of the year is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, 2015. We do not fill our entire class until after that date."

does BUffalo give out preinterview rejections on a rolling basis?

Their review is random. I believe they offer an interview or reject immediately after reviewing, if that's what you're asking? As far as I know, there's no hold pile.

ETA: though there were a good number of rejections on March 31st last year. So maybe there is?
