Am I that unlucky that I haven't been "randomly" selected for review yet?
 
I was there last year. It sucks. A lot.

I don't know which would be better, a hold pile or an unluckily late random review. But whichever is, I hope it's true for you.
 
Is there a Buffalo waitlist thread for 2014-2015?
 
so the last days for review are monday/tuesday ? seems like many of us are still waiting, maybe theyre behind on apps ?

Does anyone know Buffalo's position on LOIs (intent or interest) post-waitlist? I know they accept updates, but it isn't taken into consideration.
 
They read the things you send them; I sent a letter pre-II and got an invite 3 days later. But from what I've read on previous years' threads (there are a few posts where someone spoke with Mr. Rosso), as well as what I've been told by current students, once you interview it's kind of pointless. You're given a score immediately after your interview and nothing you do after that will change it. Unfortunately. 🙁

ETA: I might do it anyway, for my own sanity. Or call and ask for myself. This whole process, just...ack.

I emailed Mr. Rosso about this about sending updates and letters of intent about a month ago and he said our interview score is the only thing taken in consideration when they pull from the wait list.
 
Hi all,

I was invited for an interview on April 8th. Since this is so late, is this pretty much an interview to be placed on the waitlist? I currently hold 5 waitlist positions, 2 HPWL positions, and no acceptances. Should I attend?

Buffalo is very adamant that no one ever interviews for the wait list. If you're interviewing, there's an open spot in the class. That said, a large portion of the class does seem to be waitlisted first, then accepted.

With 7 waitlists, I'd say you stand a very good chance of getting in somewhere. I guess, for me, it would come down to if Buffalo interested me enough to want to see more...

Buffalo does not interview solely for the waitlist. There is always an open seat. Having said that, they do not accept for more than one person per seat. Tons of people are waitlisted. To my knowledge, no one seems to be rejected post-interview (does anyone want to correct me on that?). However, Buffalo's waitlist is actually a "good waitlist" to be 0n as there is always a ton of movement.

I would go to the interview. It's a great school and Buffalo is a cool place.

I don't know anyone personally, but I have seen one or two posts over the last few years where someone received a "non-accept" email. It was mentioned as a possibility at my interview. It doesn't seem too common though (or else people just don't post about it, which wouldn't surprise me).
 
Does anyone know when waitlist movement starts? I read that in previous years it was mid to late April. Thoughts?

Interesting, and that was with the old May 15th deadline. Could it possibly start ~2 weeks earlier because of the new April 30th deadline?

True, and people with a WL acceptance in April were probably at the top of the WL to begin with. I interviewed way back in September, do you remember if we will be given our WL rankings?

Last year, they were told their tier around mid-June, I think (I could be wrong, I haven't read through the thread recently). But the bulk of the WL movement happened before that.

And ditto on the anxiety. So, so ditto.

I didn't stay there (I'm from the area) but there's a motel right across from the campus. University Manor Inn, I think it's called. It's not the prettiest, but it's right across the street from the campus. Given the campus size, I'd say it would be about a 20 minute walk to the building.

Just got accepted!!!! I'm so excited this was my number one all along. See you guys this fall!!
(and anticipating someone asking me, it was direct as I was on the last interview date but wishing the very best of luck to everyone on the waitlist that wants to come here)

I think we interviewed together. I was placed on the wait list.

Was accepted (not off WL, sorry), am curious when we get our aid package? Any insight? Thanks!
 
I have no idea, I am still waiting for an email to set up an account in order to pay my deposit.

Everyone else receive the certiphi AAMC background check email? I find it interesting they don't tell you what school is requesting it, although I assume it's for UB because it came a couple of days after acceptance.

For you guys who have been accepted off the waitlist, are you finding out via email?

I have a feeling the next several weeks will consist of me compulsively checking my email (though hopefully i won't have to wait that long).
