2014-2015 University of Iowa (Carver) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Same here - I started out at 27 on the IS wait list and was accepted 5/13. Keeping my fingers crossed for others on the wait list!

If I took the MCAT twice, does Iowa average the two scores or take the more recent (and improved) MCAT score? Thanks.

For all of you wondering about the OOS wait list, all movement thus far is from applicants withdrawing from the list. However, there have been several who have been given offers of acceptance, and they have been given two weeks to decide. So it's moving, slowly but surely!

Well, first one through the gates I guess. Started in the high single digits on the OOS list, last I checked I moved to #2 from withdrawals in front of me. Accepted this morning and will be declining the offer.

I actually stayed on the list "for science" to report to future cycle applicants how much movement occurred, which in hindsight was a bit irresponsible to others on the waitlist. I hope that one of you guys get to be a Hawkeye this summer!

I have a question for current OOS Iowa med students! My interview day notes mention something about emailing the Registrar to inquire about becoming an in-state resident after a year (or something like that). Unfortunately I didn't expand on these notes. Does anyone know if this is something that happens, especially for the tuition difference?
