2014-2015 University of Louisville Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
What happens to the students if the school loses accreditation while attending? I'm concerned about this.....they are the only school I know of on academic probation.

OOPS I'm so sorry I thought I have been following the thread for replies, but I guess it turned out that I haven't. I didn't send a real update per se, but I just emailed them saying that I'll be in the area in December. Email was sent during late Sept/early Oct and just last week I've received an email from the coordinator asking if I want to fill an interview spot for someone who withdrew.

Other than that UofL implied that they will start handing out IIs again in Spring semester
Thanks! Where did you hear that Re: IIs in Spring Semester?

I interviewed on 10/22 and they have still not reviewed my file. People that interviewed after me are getting accepted before I hear a repsonse. Anyone want to shed some light unto what that means? Also I am an IS applicant.

Have you checked your portal? Mine hasn't updated yet. I just got an E-mail that said I was accepted and that a letter would be mailed today.
You should have a flash drive that has information on Louisville's acceptance process. Maybe there's some pertinent information on that?
If not, I would call. I certainly would if I saw someone who interviewed three weeks after me get an acceptance.

I have a quick question about the morning interview sessions. I see on the sample schedule that there's an option to attend a class. Has anyone attended the optional class? Does it look bad if we don't attend the class (say if we have to catch a flight)?

Congrats to all those accepted thus far 🙂

I'm wondering the same thing as well. My flight is at 3.... and if I attend the class I might miss the flight.

lemmym are you going to UL on Thursday?

Indeed I am! Guessing I'll see you there?

Hey all. I have been complete since 10/7 and my application says that the committee decision has not been determined. I am pretty sure this is the only status I have had since submitting it but I can't remember. Is it an on hold notice?

Congrats! Did you receive via email? Stats?

Received it via email. My LizzyM is between 69 and 71. I have some ties, but nothing familial. I LOVE the area and reflected that in my secondaries. I have extensive healthcare experience and unique ECs.

Has anyone set up a facebook group yet or anything of that nature?

How amicable are they toward OOS with no state ties? I'm getting mixed signals on that. 3.9/35

There is definitely a significant IS bias at this school. Normally the class is made up of ~120 KY residents and ~35 nonresidents. Your stats are competitive for OOS consideration. EC's, volunteer experiences, etc. are just as important though. Unlike many other schools, UofL doesn't place all emphasis on numbers, but rather evaluates the individual as a whole.

Good to know; thank you. My volunteer experience, shadowing, and other experiences are good, but it's always good to know what I'm up against.

They'll meet today!

On the side note: What are the chances that we are going to end up with "no decision" after this meeting?

I feel like our chances are the same. I've been mining previous years' threads for anxiety fuel and the good news is: there's plenty of ambiguity to keep us biting our nails until May.

Interviewed on 10/22 and just got the email that I have been wait listed. IS applicant. More waiting I suppose. Hoping to see some movement sooner than later!!

interviewed on 12/11 and received no decision email and that it will be looked at next meeting

I interviewed 12/3 and received the same message. If someone that interviewed 10/22 just now received a decision, it could be a couple more meetings before we hear anything definitive.

"The University of Louisville School of Medicine Student Admissions Committee has reviewed your application for admission and your file has been placed in the wait list consideration pool for the entering class of 2015.

We anticipate that the files of candidates placed in the wait list consideration pool will be reevaluated during the months of February and March for final wait list selection." So from this point on the only options are wait list or rejection?

when did you interview

Just so you all know I'm a late applicant, had to retake my MCAT so my primary wasn't complete until October. I have an interview the first week of February and I have been told by someone who just interviewed there a couple days ago that their class size is full and the only chance now is wait list or rejection. I'm still going to my interview, but I wanted to let everyone who is waiting around on decisions know.

that is not necessarily true, they told us the same thing at our interview in December but said they obviously have to "oversubscribe" seats and give out more offers than seats due to some students not accepting. So I mean the chances are still higher to be waitlisted/rejected at this point but acceptances will still be given out
