2014-2015 University of Louisville Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
"The University of Louisville School of Medicine Student Admissions Committee has reviewed your application for admission and your file has been placed in the wait list consideration pool for the entering class of 2015.

We anticipate that the files of candidates placed in the wait list consideration pool will be reevaluated during the months of February and March for final wait list selection." So from this point on the only options are wait list or rejection?

Yea pretty much. I got the same email.

Congrats!

Wait, you got the acceptance today? Or from last week?

I got the letter today. I hadn't heard a peep from them since I interviewed.

Huh. Weird. I thought they only email the applicants on Wednesdays...

That's the thing. It wasn't an email. It was a letter I received via snail mail.

I've been complete since August and still haven't heard anything. I called in December and they said my application was still under review (just as the portal says). Has anyone else had this long of a dry spell? I'm starting to wonder if my application is lost.

Yes - not quite that long but since early September for me. I highly doubt we are still being considered for an interview at this point...

Yeah I have been complete since late September too and I am OOS. I believe they stop sending II's at the end of this month so I would guess we are either going to get rejections soon or just nothing.

12/3 as well. I guess we may have met. The wait is torture :-/. I hope you find out soon.

It's just frustrating because I know people who interviewed last week and already heard back, whereas they still haven't looked at my file. They should be going in order! Also, do you mind sharing your stats and how you think your interviews went?

I know someone who interviewed more recently than you and they have already been rejected! So, at least you still have hope. I wish you luck.

When I interviewed, they told me that applicants would go before the committee twice before some decision is made. The first options are accept, waitlist consideration, reject, hold. The second time a decision would definitely be made.
You should contact the admissions office, because both you and MrRedLeg1 have likely been overlooked by mistake.

Accepted on 1/28, interviewed on 12/3. Very excited about possibly attending this school.

I interview on Tuesday! I believe they were only interviewing into the first 2 weeks of Feb as that's the options I got. I know I'm just interviewing for a waitlist spot, but Louisville has been my top choice since my sophomore year.
Does anyone have any tips for the interview? Any particularly hard questions they asked?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I haven't interviewed at Louisville, but the tips on the interview feedback page have proved quite helpful for my other interviews.

The last time I spoke with someone from admissions which was a few weeks ago, they said it could still be an acceptance. I guess it depends on where they are with spots.

I interviewed a few weeks ago, and they said that while they may extend a few more offers, chances are not great, BUT if you are in the top third of the waitlist it means they would have accepted you outright had they had the room. They almost always get through the top 3rd of the waitlist for both IS and OOS. For OOS, they sometimes go completely through the middle third and into the bottom third also.

Did they say anything about more interview offers? I wish they would just reject me already!

I interviewed on Tues and they said everyone should know something by the 4th week in March. I'm sorry this wasn't clear. They said next week is last of interviews and everyone who has interviewed will know something by end of march.

No, but their last interview day is something like February 13 so chances aren't so good, but you never know!

Yeah, not to get you down but if you haven't gotten an interview yet chances aren't good. The last week of interviews is next week.

Think we were told we would hear something tomorrow for sure. If nothing else, a no decision email.

Thanks! I must have gotten the days mixed up. I have checked my email a million times today! lol

I wonder what time we will hear anything. Probably around 3 ish I'm guessing....

Got that no decision email from interviewing on the 3rd, not at all surprised!

No decision email as well. Interviewed 2/4

No decision here too. I interviewed 1/28. Another two weeks til the next committee meeting..ugh!

Interviewed 1/28. No decision. Do people who get the no decision email get accepted? Or just wait list. Two more weeks feels like an eternity!

I think either option is possible. I mean, at this stage a waitlist spot is much more likely, but as @singergirl18 has demonstrated (congratulations!) outright acceptances are still being offered.

Going to keep my fingers crossed and head down for another two weeks!

It probably means they started into the 1/28 group but didn't get all the way through it. A no decision email usually means they just haven't gotten that far yet.
@singergirl18 must have been spectacular to get an acceptance. 🙂

Thanks, guys!

At my interview day, she said they were toying with the idea of canceling the early February meeting and waiting until they were completely done with interviews to make decisions on the last batch. Clearly that didn't happen, but she also said the Multiple Acceptance Report will influence whether they hand out more acceptances. That report only became available a few days go (I believe). After perusing it, they may decide to hand out a few more offers, so don't give up hope. If you weren't under serious consideration, I'd think that you would have been rejected this morning.

I got this email yesterday morning:

"The Student Admissions Committee has reviewed your application for admission and you have been selected for the wait list for the entering class of 2015. You must notify us of your acceptance or refusal of wait list status through return email within 7 days from receipt of this notification. If you decline the wait list, then please send us an email withdrawing from consideration at the University of Louisville.
Candidates who are selected for and accept wait list status will be ranked during the month of April and informed of their rank by Friday, April 24. Candidates will be able to check online at the secondary application website for their standing; the rank is categorized as top third, middle third or bottom third of the listing. Kentucky residents and out of state candidates are placed on separate wait list.
It is impossible to predict the number of positions that will become available. We will admit from the wait list through the last week in July."

Previous I called University of Louisville and asked if they accepted a letter of intent/update email. The admissions committee said no. For a response to this email do you think it would be appropriate to write a short letter of intent or do they simply want a yes I would like to be considered for the wait list?

Thanks SDNer's!
