2014-2015 University of Wisconsin Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone else practically have a countdown going, or is that just me? ConsultantMD, this thread is so quiet, I feel like you and I are the only in-staters. Where my Wisco people at?!

I know I do. Anyone know if you can submit at midnight yet?

I'm planning on expanding mine since my AMCAS was 'bundled'. Doesn't say there's a limit/recommended amount, so yeah why not?

EDIT: Just found a weird typo in one of my 'most meaningful' activities... argh. It's just a bunch of random characters, not sure how it got in there!

Oh no! I hate finding typos after submitting. Don't worry too much though. I got an interview at a school that I referred to the wrong school in my diversity essay.

I don't know if there is an easy way to find out, but I will definitely let you know at 12:01 if mine goes through!! T-6 hours!!

I talked to an admissions counselor on Friday. She said that the applications will be forwarded to the registrar's office (probably on Monday) in order to make a residency determination. Then they will be sent back to the admissions committee. She seemed to suggest that the order of submission may not be preserved during this process, and that it would not matter what time of day you submit the application.

I totally agree with the order thing, I think as long as you get it in by the first batch on Monday it doesn't matter. Their Twitter account even said that they were excited to start accepting IS apps this Monday (not Sunday). Besides, I'm sure admissions committees in general always sort apps in various ways before reviewing instead of actually starting with the very first app they receive haha.

As most neurotic people would think, I'm going to start clicking "submit" at 12:00:00 AM exactly, regardless of the fact that order of submission may not be conserved. #crazy #medschool #GoPackGo

I'm driving myself crazy right now in anticipation.

WOO! Submitted! Good luck everyone!

Submitted and paid!

BUT: WI Residency Determination by UW Registrar's Office has a red X ... hopefully they realize I'm a true cheesehead

Letters are received: Green check

Residency: Red X... so no, they have not determined it yet

Submitted, residency won't be determined for a bit but my letters aren't showing up either. Oh well, I'm just excited it's in!!

I'm currently in a graduate program (MS) and have sent three letters with my AMCAS application. Does anyone know if that is enough for an applicant from a graduate program? I just informed AMCAS to go ahead and send my undergraduate packet of letters as well...

The LOR FAQ page is not and has not been loading.

Just submitted! (IS, Former Badger undergrad) Residency & LORs are still a red X. Really hoping they give me a chance! I feel it's my best shot due to UW being my undergrad and being a WI resident.

Like we mentioned earlier, apps will be sent on Monday to someone who confirms residency, so that red x will be there for a little longer still.

Another ISer hoping to submit asap!

I'm IS and submitted around 1 am or so. Best of luck to everyone this cycle. 🙂

Did anyone else copy and paste their life activities description AND most meaningful paragraph from AMCAS to the secondary list? That would be much more than 2 to 4 sentences but I want to make sure that most meaningful paragraph is read

I just copied and pasted the descriptions... but I'm guessing they probably read your most meaningful off of the AMCAS?

yes I copied both. I figured it can't really hurt.

Have any ISers had their letters marked as received? I only submitted mine last Tuesday, but I figure that should be enough time- unless they don't mark that complete until they've processed your secondary?

My letters were marked as complete, I've had my AMCAS and letters in since June

I submitted yesterday and my letters aren't marked off either. I'm sure they'll get to it eventually!

anybody know when interviews for in staters come?

Yes, my letters have a green check now too. Residency still isn't green. But otherwise we should be complete! Good luck! I have no idea about the turnaround for interviews, but hopefully the next few weeks?

I have a green check next to the letters. Is that what people don't have?

I stalked last years thread and it looks like it takes 2-3 weeks for residency to be determined and the first in-state ii were sent a few days after that, around 9/12 I think. Looks like we've got a while :/

It takes 2-3 weeks to check if I get in state tuition at UW-Madison?

I have no idea, that's just the info I gathered from last years thread. Maybe someone else has more concrete info on this?

Secondary status page says exactly that.

First rejection today. Can't say I'm too surprised as OOS. 33+ MCAT, 3.75+ GPA. Oh well, it was a long shot anyway. Best of luck to everyone still in the running!

Yep..this was my first rejection of the cycle as well (11:06 today). Glad the first one's out of the way. Good luck to you and all others for the rest of your cycle!

I just realized I made a mistake on the secondary... was several years off on an activity date... shorted myself several years >.< I really thought I remembered checking carefully, but this was 1.5 months ago...

oh no! Maybe you can call and ask someone in the admissions office if they can add a note in your file. Was it something that was a large time commitment like a job?

It was a performance activity I was involved in for years. I mean, if I was going to screw something up, this is one of the less critical things on my application, I guess.

Admissions says they get too many applications to change something on individual secondaries, but I could clarify it if I get an interview.

Well that's good it isn't critical. Hopefully you will get an interview so you can clarify! When were you complete here?
