2014-2015 Virginia Commonwealth University Application Thread

Hey everyone! So my complete date for this school was 7/10 and I have yet to hear back! Last cycle I applied and got a MAY status until the inevitable rejection but this cycle I am just sitting in silence. Can anyone let me know what's going on or what my chances are at this point?
 
So I still have the original long message saying "your application is now complete", but I also have a portion saying

"Please note that your file may be put on hold for several reasons:

Hold for MCAT means that we are assuming you are scheduled to take the test. The Committee wishes to wait to evaluate your file until those scores are available. MCATS taken after September of the year of application will not be considered.

Hold for Grades: The file review done by the Committee has determined that you are engaged in coursework which may affect their decision about whether to invite you for an interview. It is imperative that you submit grades for current or proposed courses in a timely fashion. Any file on hold for grades that are not submitted by January 31st will automatically be rejected. The second situation, while rare, occurs when the Committee discusses your application after interview and determines that their decision will be impacted by new grades. If you have been interviewed and this status appears on the web, please call the office and speak with Mrs. Agnes Mack or Dr. Michelle Whitehurst-Cook to determine what information the Committee needs."

Is this telling me I have a hold? Or is this disclaimer on everyone's page? Lol sorry if that's a silly question, but I've been complete since mid August so now I'm wondering if it's a hold.

My status page is identical to yours. I think it might be generic information for all those with the "complete" status.
 
Just received the further status. complete in late July. I have no idea about what sort of system they are using to review apps, but heck I'm just glad they read mine!

Howdy folks,

My status was just reverted back to the "Your M.D. file is now complete. The Admissions Committee will now do a comprehensive review of your application..." I've been complete for over two months and am a little puzzled by this status change. Anyone in a similar position able to make sense of this?

I was also just informed that my file is now complete and it will be further looked at. I was complete in August, I'm a little confused.
 
That happened to me a while ago, and I actually e-mailed to ask since I was worried there was a tech glitch and I like couldn't see the status change or something...They just said that sometimes we get sent an email any time our file "moves along in the process" even if there's no status change on the portal. So I'm still just "complete" saying it will be further looked at as well. So I guess no news isn't bad news?
 
I've had the complete status since 10/1. Is there some kind of ETA for status changes of any kind, or is it just "we'll get to you when we get to you" type of situation?
 
sorry if this has been addressed but has anyone tried sending an update letter/know if they are receptive to those pre-interview? i have the "further" status for what it's worth

They are not receptive to update letters pre- and maybe(?) post-interview. Check the FAQ page for more info!

thank you! i knew i had read something about their policy somewhere. so many schools it's hard to keep track of which ones are receptive and which aren't haha

I called a few weeks ago to inquire about the status of my application, and I was told to send a LOI. So, I did. Now I read this. I really hope I did not harm my chances!

Oh, I'm glad you asked. For some reason I thought it would be the next time they met, and started to get worried when I hadn't been placed on hold.

I have not. But it seems some people did not get the survey status for a long time after interview, so I am trying not to worry about it. 🙂

I didn't get in quite that late, but there are airport taxis readily available right at the exit. UberX is cheaper, however, and a few of them tend to hang out around the exit as well.
 
Would any current VCU students be willing to answer some questions I have regarding the school? I have some questions about the I^2CRP program and would love to hear some personal details about VCU-SOM!
 
Hm... Had the shorter complete status but just got put back to the longer one...

Does anyone mind explaining what the "May" status means? I submitted my application in late July, but just received that update. It seems like it isn't really any different from no decision, but I'm not really sure.

I was complete mid-July, and just received the "May" status as well. For me, it means I'm not rejected, but until it becomes (IF it becomes) an II, I'm still no closer to acceptance either haha.
