I was poking around their website and they said they got almost 3000 applicants on their first amcas download so we should all be patient!

What competencies are these?

Edit: Nevermind, I think I just found them. Or at least, in my big Word document of essays, I had copied and pasted this from somewhere:

"The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) lists 14 entry-level core competencies for medical school applicants: Service Orientation, Social Skills, Cultural Competence, Teamwork, Oral Communication, Ethical Responsibility to Self and Others, Reliability and Dependability, Resilience and Adaptability, Capacity for Improvement, Critical Thinking, Scientific Inquiry, Written Communication, Living Systems, and Human Behavior. (See AAMC webpage for full definitions using hyperlink below)"

Re-applicant in general, I believe. For what it's worth, many schools have this essay prompt, so you might as well come up with an answer now because you'll be using it over and over and over...
 
For those who haven't received a secondary, I would venture to guess there may be a more holistic screening process depending on stats. I applied last year with a much lower MCAT score and didn't receive a secondary until late August. This year, I have a highly improved MCAT score and got one on the first day. Hang in there, you should get one eventually.

Idk if you were implying this or not, but they DO screen for secondaries.
 
Finished and submitted it just now. No confirmation email, and their secondary website link is janky at best.

I have a question for those who are more familiar with Wake. I am a stats/research heavy background applicant with no previous connection to wake. However, my girlfriend will be moving to the area after college. Is this something I could/should mention in the connection question? Will I be considered here? (3.9/39)

I'm not entirely sure if it will make a difference unless you put a ring on it, but of course mentioning that could only help... anyone know how intense the screen is for secondaries?

Will you be considered? With a 3.9/39? I wouldn't worry too much about a possible tie to NC with those stats, I'd say they should do the trick just fine haha.
 
What is worth putting as a tie to wake forest? I had a good friend who went there and I had visited and loved it. But I don't know if that really constitutes as a tie

You sound like a fine applicant who would be well-considered, and yes, I would mention that in the connection question if I were you. When you say "after college," though, do you mean May 2015 or will it be a bit further in the future? If it's several years away, I'd be hesitant to mention it, but if she'll be moving there within a few months of your potential matriculation, I say go for it. Also, Wake Forest has lots of opportunities for research and would appreciate your research/stats-heavy background, in my opinion.

I don't consider that a tie, no. Sorry! Off the top of my head, family or significant other living in the area would count, or maybe something like spending a summer (or longer) living in North Carolina while doing research or volunteering with a clinical location. Bonus points if you were in the Winston-Salem area or worked with a Wake Forest-affiliated clinical program.

This seems more like a troll question than a legitimate one. But I'm not saying it's not serious, it just seems absurd to worry with those grades.
 
Definitely not trolling. My premed advisor warned me about having a tough time at schools that weren't as research heavy. I don't want wake to think I'm just applying to it as a safety. More a question if making sure they know I'm serious about attending.

I think I will add them on Amcas tonight.
 
We are only able to enter 2 rec letters, but the website says up to 8 are accepted... does that mean WF will just pull my additional letters? Will they read em?

Yeah, I did all 3 of the required ones. The diversity and challenge ones I just recycled from previous secondaries. The AAMC competency one required taking bits and pieces from multiple previous essays to make a coherent answer.
 
Did you guys get an email or anything after you submitted? I submitted my secondary yesterday but didn't get any confirmatio or complete email from wake forest...

"At least 2" means 2 or 3... I don't think choosing to do all three means you didn't read the directions, but rather just that you answered all of them... I think having the option was more for people who were having a hard time answering all three, or were too busy, or didn't want to. I'd like to think that answering either 2 or 3 would have no bearing on your admissions decisions and that they will be based on the answers themselves.
