2014-2015 Wright State University Application Thread

OOS applicant. Waiting on an interview invitation. Are there campus tours or visits that we could be doing to put names to faces? Also, since they're affiliated with the Air Force, does anyone know if they favor AF HPSP candidates?

any OOS interviews lately? Complete 9/5 and no word since...

Rejected post-interview. In my letter it said "you may now submit your application to other medical schools for their consideration". Which is weird because that is for early decision applicants which I am not...

Good luck to everyone else.

Got an interview invite on thursday! Interviewing on Nov 5!

IS, 3.2 undergrad. 4.0 masters. 36. completed last week of july.

Anyone have insight into the interview? I know it's 2 one-on-one 45 minute interviews, but thats all i know.

Congrats on the interview BTW!

Your interviews will either be with 2 faculty members or a faculty member and a current student. Before that you'll have a presentation on the school, a tour with current students, and lunch. The whole day is very laid back, nothing to be nervous about.

Good luck!

When you guys say "complete," is that when you submitted your secondary?

Edit: Never mind!

Yea I never understood that either. I always assume its when they get the email.

Once you submit your secondary you get an email saying they got your secondary and that you're complete. However, I didn't get one of my two science faculty letters in until late august (submitted secondary mid july). So i'm not really sure when they actually started to look at my file.

Oh well... Just gotta wait and see.

Nooooo. I was complete August 18 🙁 still no word yet.

Congrats by the way!

Thank you, and don't worry! It is far from panic time.

IS or OOS? I've been complete since 8/14 and I'm sitting in silence.
I am in state. Like others have said, all the apps are sitting in a digital pile waiting to be opened. Its hard, I know, but someone will see you app and send you a decision.

Deferred...

I'm very very confused right now. Both my interviewers explicitly told me they really liked me, wanted me at the school, and expected I would have multiple acceptance offers.

I'm very confused on how that translates to "defer". Disappointing :/

Bummer! On the bright side, it looks like you have a couple of solid acceptances!

I felt a similar vibe after my interview and I got straight rejected. A friend of mine last cycle felt the same after his interview at WS, got rejected, and now currently a M1 at Emory. So take it was a grain of salt and onto the next interview!

I don't know what your stats are or if you have been accepted anywhere else, but since they are a lower tier school maybe they didn't think you would actually go there. They want to admit people that will matriculate.

EDIT: Just looked at your post history and it looks like you have had several interviews and multiple acceptances. My guess is you have pretty good stats to have been this successful so early on in the cycle. I wouldn't be surprised if Boonshoft thought if accepted you wouldn't matriculate. Would you mind sharing your stats?

I know this is something that gets said a lot but this is completely not true at all. Absolutely no one gets rejected or wait listed because we don't think the applicant will matriculate. If we interview a very competitive applicant we are aware that they will most likely have multiple acceptances but if we think they are a good fit for BSOM we will still accept them and hope they end up matriculating. We have so many competitive applicants that apply that no one is ever worried about "wasting a space" on someone who will not matriculate. If we accept an applicant who decides to go elsewhere there are hundreds of people in line who will take that spot.

If you were rejected or deferred post interview it means there was something either on your application or that came up during your interview which indicates you may not be a good fit for BSOM. If you felt like your interviews went great keep in mind there is still a whole committee that ultimately decides what happens to your application. BSOM is really big about an applicants "fit" with our school so if you were rejected it doesn't mean you are not a competitive applicant. The whole process is really complex but I can assure you it was not because you are "too" competitive for our school...

That completely makes sense. That was always just something I've heard from advisors and previous applicants. It never really made sense to me for schools to pass on applicants they like because they are worried they won't end up going there. Thanks for sorting it out!

Glanced through the thread really quickly and didn't see this anywhere so I hope im not rehashing something that's already been said, but does anyone have any info on how many rounds of interviews bsom does and approx dates of when they run?

So for any Ohio residents, is it snowing out there yet?!!!! I would just LOVE to see the snow! 😍

It snowed in the Dayton area Friday night, but it's all gone now though. We don't usually see the snow stick around until late December-January.

Aww man! Well, I should be travelling to the area in December! ... I definitely want to come prepared though, because to us Californians 60 degrees is ridiculously cold lol!

That's t-shirt weather here! It's 45 degrees at the moment; you will definitely want a coat in December.

Really? T-shirt weather! lol ... wow! Okay, I will make sure to pack an extra thick coat! and congrats on your acceptance! That's awesome!

I can't really answer your question, but when I called to schedule my interview, they gave me the choice between Tuesday or Wednesday. I believe they do this each week, but don't hold me to that. Also, I had a friend who interviewed in either January of February last year and was accepted, so I think they have plenty of interviews left.
