2014-2015 Wright State University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There's nothing wrong in my opinion with post-interview communication, I give all of my interviewees my email address so they can feel free to contact me with any questions or whatever after the interview. SDN seems like an impractical way to have that communication but whatever I guess it's the same thing.

That being said, there are a bunch of us on the admissions committee who read this post on here so you can feel free to message me or just post on here if there is something you want to talk to an interviewer about.

Hmm that sounds pretty unfair to the other interviewers.

I am sorry gebor if you were confused by my post. I am a STUDENT, not an interviewer. I met 2 other really nice students and I wanted to communicate with them in case we all got accepted. Thank you doit4themunki for offering to communicate if needed. Sorry again for the misunderstanding. Good luck to everyone! http://forums.studentdoctor.net/members/doit4themunki.338211/

Email. And thanks, but it's really no big deal - I have acceptances at a few schools I love so I'm all set for next year!
Swell! I'm out of state and still waiting to hear something one way or the other haha, so that's why I asked.

Rejected this morning as well. IS, 3.7 cGPA, 3.6 sGPA, 27, 32 retake. Will be attending Toledo... Does that make us rivals??? 😡😡

OOS, 3.85 cGPA, 32 mc at basically just waiting for the rejection haha

are these recent rejections pre interview? I am on the waitlist and wondering if I should be expecting an email too as well haha

OOS rejection as well! Knew it was inevitable here. Good luck everyone at this amazing program!

Just received a WSU Financial Aid Information postcard. Thanks Wright State for rejecting me this week!!

I got one of those postcards and I'm on the waitlist. I was wondering if it was good news but I guess not lol

So I just got what I believe to be waitlisted by postal mail. The letter says I'm still "under consideration" and recommended to stay on "a stand by list" and might know by mid-may. What exactly does this mean? This is my first choice - would sending an LOI be helpful at all?

Did you end up sending a LOI?

Has anyone who interviewed 3/3 heard anything yet? Or does anyone know when we can expect to hear anything?

Do people actually get rejected post interview or everyone just gets put in the alternate pool if they aren't accepted?

About the Stand-byList...

At this time there is no new information. Your letter tells you that you will get more information after everyone has been interviewed and gone through committee. This will happen sometime in April. At the time the actual Alternate List is made you could get one of 4 letters.
1. You have been placed in the TOP Third of the Wait List.
2. You have been placed in the MIDDLE Third of the Wait List.
3. You have been placed in the BOTTOM Third of the Wait List.
4. You have been rejected.

We do understand this is a long process and regret that there is no new information we can tell those of you on the wait list. We do appreciate your understanding and those letters will be sent as soon as we have new information for you.

Debbie, are there any updates on when we will receive the letters. Thanks for your help!

Those letters are in the works. They will go out slowly. I hope to have them completed by the end of next week.

Yes from Ohio. I don't understand.

Interviewer 1: "Was this your first interview? You did fantastic!"
Interview 2: "You are going to be a great doctor some day."

Do the interviews not hold any weight in admissions? If all wright state is concerned about is MCAT scores, why waste my time and bring me in for an interview?

If all WSU was concerned about was MCAT scores, I would not have been accepted. I know of a student who will be attending with a score lower than mine, and I know a couple of low MCATers who are on the waitlist. From what I've seen and heard from previous student adcom members, it's all about the fit.

I just received my status update of Top Third yesterday via mail! Hoping for an acceptance soon, but I'll take top third and hope for now.

What could it hurt?????? I believe in LOI. Just gets your name "out there" one more time and lets them know that you are VERY serious and hopeful. The worst that could happen.............hits the circular file and never read. At least you tried!

I did well in all 3 interviews I attended, but only got accepted by 1. It's part of the process, friend.

Yeah i understand that, but it's frustrating when the interviewers say "I think you'll fit in great here" as they are walking me back and then reject me afterwords.
I know your pain. Rejected or wait listed at my 3 best interviews and my dream school, yet I have learned that the admissions process is more complex than many people think and goes way beyond just numbers and interviews. The best bet is just expect the worst and hope for the best.

Hi Debbie,

If we were to be offered an acceptance after May 15th, how long would we have to decide whether we are taking it or not if we are also holding an acceptance at another school?

Thank you!

You would have two weeks in the very beginning. When we get closer to matriculation the time frame shrinks. When "push comes to shove" we ask for a response on the spot.
