Congrats on your acceptances! Deposits were not required in our year, and probably won't be in yours either.
A little info on housing:
If looking for a single, I think grad housing is best (though expensive). If you have a car, consider tallgrass or the grove. Majority of students live in these two complexes.

Tallgrass Apartments
I currently, and A LOT of other med students live at Tallgrass Apartments. Like every apartment complex in Tallgrass has a med student.
Pros:
- Not sure how much this is important to you but, they are building a new gym that is supposed to open in a couple of weeks. It is supposed to have full basketball court, free weights, and machines. I am also not sure of the quality of the gym.
- Cheap. I am paying 425 for 2 bed 2 bath (unfurnished). I think the rates go up for next year though.
- 3 min drive to school (22 min walk)
- lots of med peeps
- really quiet / no loud parties
- high speed internet included
Cons:
- BUGS (Spiders, ants, things that jump / fly): most of them are in the hallway between the different units so when you open the door to the apartment complex, you will so many bugs. They sometimes get inside the house. I have been killing a bug a day for the past 3 months. One time I had ants cover an entire pizza box I left beside the trashcan. Over 100+ ants. Bugs are an issue at tallgrass, but the severity depends, I talked to other students and they say that if you live on the ground floor, you tend to see more bugs.
- Depending on the unit, you won't get hot water as soon as you turn on the tap. I currently have to turn on my washroom tap and leave it on for 3min for the water to heat up. For my kitchen sink, I need to leave it on for 5min. Though it may not seem like a huge amount of time, it adds up, especially in the morning and during the winter.
- You need to bring your own microwave.
- doesn't have a lounge for ppl to hang out
- gas and electricity not included (i have been paying $50 for gas and electricity, it will jump to like $75 when winter starts)

The Grove
I know a huge chunk of med students also live there. 5 min drive, 35 min walking distance.
Pros:
- Pretty cheap also (more expensive than Tallgrass, but in my opinion, the services they provide are worth it)
- free color printing (big + if you like hard copies of notes, this is something I am actually considering switching apartments for)
- has a lounge: swimming pool, free pop corn, free ice cones, pool table, table tennis, TV, board games, gym
- clean apartments (havent heard bug stories)
- furniture they provide is also good
- includes all appliances
- rent includes $25 credit towards electricity / gas
- high speed internet included
- spacious (a room in a 3 bed / 3bath at grove is bigger than a room in a 2 bed / 2 bath at tallgrass)
Cons:
- noisy, a lot of undergrads live here (I need my quiet. I cannot study in a library, only in my room. This is the main reason I decided against grove. If noise is not an issue for you because you can study at CMED, go to grove)
- the gym could be better, but better than not having one at all
- There was an issue with the management and students living at grove. Some students had their cars towed because they didn't register their car in time. There was also something regarding a fine for not disposing your garbage properly because they had removed a garbage bin, leaving only one dumpster for all the complexes combined. Not too sure about the issues here, but I think they would be fixed.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
