2015-2016 SUNY Upstate Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
if that still even exists. only one person on this entire thread posted being on there and that could be a shill account or theres a tiny number of backups on that list

at this point, it feels as if the high waitlist doesnt exist either

contacted them but got no response to my message. guessing it is over. whatever. life goes on. not like i woulda enjoyed living in syracuse anyway

Will you apply again this cycle? If you do, I recommend applying to a few DO schools.

when did you contact them? sometimes it takes a little while before they get back to you. they seemed very friendly when i talked to them and dont seem the type of adcom that ignores applicants

Don't lose hope guys! After I sent my withdrawal email, it took them a couple of days to write back that they have taken me off the class list so they might just be running super slowly.
Thank you for the encouragement! I've been painting my heart away to get my mind off this.

they got back to me. only thing i could take from what they said was the list isnt moving as slowly as last cycle. last year they explicitly said moving slowly. otherwise nothing really revealing.

did you ask them just how the list is moving or anything else about your position?

@Aki the Mew i think our chances are slim to none. only one person on here who was told "your position is usually reached" came off the list. all of those people have to come off before our tier comes off

its annoying theyre not answering because they said they would. maybe theyre really busy with the current application cycle
Ah. Very true. They have to start looking through primary apps and sending out those secondaries. Next month will be the interview invites...so it makes a lot of sense.

Updates!

I've been on the HPA; when I contacted them in May, they told me I was in a position they usually reach, which didn't seem too promising based on the comments on this thread. When I contacted them in July for another update, they told me that I had a "strong possibility" of getting in, though the list has been moving slowly. I just got a call from the admissions committee and they told me an opening was available, and I'm definitely taking it.

Wow, congratulations! Orientation starts in a week! Do you live in the area? I can't even imagine the logistics of coordinating a move and finding a place to live within a week!

But again, congratulations, and see you at orientation!

Actually, I live in Los Angeles California, so the next few days are going to be a mad scramble to get everything figured out. First on my list is to buy clothing for cold weather...

Thanks! I'll see you there!

As you may know, there is school provided housing in the Geneva tower, which I believe may still be an option to you. It's not the greatest, but it comes funished and is included with your school bill. This may be the easiest option at the present time to get in before classes begin.

If you're looking for a decent place off campus to stay (best if you have a car or bicycle), try Greenway place on Hawley.

Congrats! I'm glad something nice happened.

Well tomorrow's Monday. Thanks to someone9870, I now have some bit of hope for us other waitlisters. One more week before the first day of classes, and hoping at least one more person will get in during that time.
