2015-2016 SUNY Upstate Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
mine as well. did they give u the gray area message last year? or was it more optimistic?

Last year. I didn't get a single interview. It was just a bunch of waitlists for interviews. Around March-ish, they all finally started saying no.

Has anyone (who has withdrawn) gotten their deposit refunded yet?

i dont think this is true. i think they can hold more than one spot if they are given a week to decide but traffic day was may 2 this year
Oh. Did not know that. I thought it was just you had to decide by a certain date to get a refund on your deposit. Thanks!
(I had two DO schools lined up and they only contacted me recently.)

Question.. How many of you were told that they have reached their position in prior years. Or any other positive news and are still waiting on the list?

i want to know if there is anyone who was told "we usually do not reach your position" or something less optimistic than "we may or may not reach you"

I was told that. Still gunna be tough to gauge the entire sample of people told that since I'm sure a good chunk don't use SDN.

i was told that. as were about 95.7% of waitlisted (aka we like playing games with you) students.

Yah but as long as one of you "we still normally reach your position" people are still waiting it means that us grey area people have not begun getting called.
thats a good point. i think there was one person who was in the "we usually reach you" tier who got in the first week and theres at least 3 or 4 more people on that tier posting on this thread.

that person withdrew btw...not like it matters tho cuz seems like nothings going on at Upstate.

it means that they are on the second tier of people which is your tier. whats unknown is how large these tiers are and whether some are larger than others. then the question still remains whether they told anyone that they typically do not reach their position. im leaning towards them not telling anyone that on the hpa because i think the entire list has been cleared in the past

That would be wonderful! (The entire list being cleared.) I do hope that it happens. >.<

My family is already tired of hearing me talk about the waitlist everyday.
Me: "I really REALLY like this school."
Family: "We know. You say it all the time."
Me:"I really REALLY want to get in."
Family: "So do a lot of people."
Me:"I really REALLY hope I get in."
Family:"...Please stop talking."

multiple people said they withdrew but nobody new posted an acceptance. im guessing they only lurk or dont go on here at all

anyone have word as to whether this list is still moving? I may get a hold of them next week

Does Upstate usually have little movement for their waitlist? (Or at least the recent years.) I saw last year's thread and it looked pretty slow.

seems like it. They say the SUNYs have good movement. but if this snails pace movement is good then idk what bad is

i have a feeling that "very good chance" is top third, "we usually reach your spot" is middle third, and "gray area" is bottom third. unless there is a 4th tranche of "we usually dont reach your position" which nobody posted yet.
