Just wondering but is this school receptive to letters of interest if you are on the HPWL?

I was wondering that too cuz im in the same position. this might be one of those schools that rank you numerically on the waitlist and you are stuck with it. cany anyone else clarify?
 
anyone from IIs in early March hear back yet? So tired of waiting....
 
FYI: FA packages are up on MyUpstate, but are incomplete. I spoke with someone in financial aid today, and he said that any actual aid won't be determined until May. All that you see now is your loan offer, but there is a chance you'll be offered a scholarship later.

I was just about to accept the entire loan package since I'm leaving the country in 2 weeks for 2.5 months. Could someone confirm this at second visit?
 
Has anyone called to ask about their spot on the HPA list? I remember during the interview they said we could call later on in the cycle to ask about our ranking, but I don't remember what month they said we could start calling at.

i think they said mid may they would tell you
 
Judging by how little movement waitlists saw last year, Im not holding my breath. Still hopeful tho
 
Given the fact that they established two wait lists, one hpa and one regular, means that they believe (probably based on past experience) that it is possible to deplete the hpa. Soooo....if it's even possible to deplete the hpa, our chances can't be that bad right? I tell myself this to make myself feel better.
 
From what I understand of past years, the HPA list moves pretty well and regular waitlist has not been touched in a while. This was from my interview day/admissions staff and the last two years of SDN threads anyway.

i think the lpa is much smaller than hpa and there has been a lot of variation in hpa over the years. i also think there was low waitlist movement nationwide last year, and schools are gonna try to fix that this year
 
Also just withdrew, OOS. Hopefully that gives you all some waitlist movement!

If anyone unfamiliar with the area needs any advice regarding good places to eat in Syracuse or places to hike/run, feel free to ask or PM me. I lived up in Syracuse for 8 years and was born and raised in Upstate NY. It's a beautiful area.
 
Did anyone attend the second look day? Thoughts?

Current MS1 at Upstate here. Congrats to everyone who was accepted this cycle. I just wanted to offer my assistance if any of you have any questions about the program or anything in general to help you make your decision / get a better idea of Upstate.

Also, I was taken off the HPL last year so there is hope! If you have any questions about that feel free as well.

Upstate told me that we could hold more than one acceptance until May 15th...but the AAMC says April 30th. Is that date specific to each school or is there one overarching date that everyone needs to comply with?

im wondering that as well. do they start pulling off may 1 like most schools or wait till may 15?

Should we contact admissions indicating we are still looking to come off the HPWL? I haven't been in contact because they said letters of interest won't affect our position on the wait list.
 
Is anyone else trying to choose between Upstate and Stony Brook (by chance)? If so, PM me.

I called AMCAS and they said you'd be risking losing all your acceptances if you were holding more than one spot, but Upstate said it's ok. I'm so confused.

After May 2nd you are in violation. That means schools can do whatever they want. It would be good of a school to get in touch with you asap and let you know you're in violation and need to decide, but technically they wouldn't have to.

I don't know anything about letters of interest but it's completely fine to ask how things look for you if your'e on the HPWL. However, you should probably wait like another 10-14 days because they are still finalizing since it's not 5/1 yet. Last year I actually called just to tell them I was taking my stats class and they asked me if I wanted to hear if I had a good shot or not, so they are definitely open to talking about it.

Also I was given an offer on 5/15 last year so they definitely start moving that list really quick!

Did they say you had a good shot or not when you called them about the stat class?
 
looks like there wasnt any movement today. either they are getting rid of overflow acceptances first or they are waiting until may 15
 
old traffic day but they said we can check back then to see how we fare on the waitlist

So for me they basically told me on the phone that I got in without telling me that I got in. However, it's important to point out that one of my roommates was given the strong impression that there was basically no shot for him. Long story short he's here now, so you should take it with a grain of salt.
 
Just got of Downstate waitlist and I am currently on Upstate waitlist....I prefer Syracuse and Ithaca so I hope I get in here. Any waitlist movement here?????
 
When are you guys planning to call to ask about your positions on the waitlist? They said mid-May but I'm really tempted to call next week
