2015-2016 University of California - Riverside Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Possibly not as long as you have meaningful additions to the letter.

How receptive is UCR to update letters/letters of interest? Where do we send them to? I've been complete since early July and still no word 🙁

The above posts should help with that. Admissions office is where I would send the letter.

Just received a II this past week (complete early August)! I'm so excited and grateful. This is my second interview (first MMI) I wanted to ask you guys for some advice--for an update letter, should I send one in late December once my grades are finalized with Fall grades and activity/honors/Winter schedule update, or should I wait until just after the interview (scheduled early January, so it's really a 3 week difference in timing) so I can also add comments on my takeaways from the school/interview? I'd rather wait until January but I don't want them to think I don't care if I don't update them before the interview.

Probably overthinking it, but thoughts? 🙂

Can't give you an answer, but I say call up the office. They're super receptive to questions!
Shouldn't reflect badly if you just ask.

What are the chances at this point of receiving an II if I submit my recently received secondary soon?

greetings. i haven't been quite active on these forums, but i'm hoping for some quick advice. i just got published yesterday and was wondering whether i ought to update ucr (plus other schools) on this -- if so, how? my primary indicated that the manuscript was under review... any thoughts will be appreciated, thanks!

I think it might be best to call (or email) each school to see how you can update your application, at least that is what I would do. Congratulations on your publication by the way!

Am I rejected?? Got a secondary immediately and completed within two weeks (this was two months ago) and currently with no news. But now they are sending out more secondaries because didn't like the secondaries they already had??

Completed 7/20 and nary a peep.

UCR, pls respond.

Has anyone called recently and asked when more acceptances are going to be given out by any chance? They have been so quiet! When are things going to start moving? I am getting anxious.

A couple people were accepted around mid-December according to last years thread (12.12 and 12.18). Hopefully we hear something back in the next 2 weeks or so.

I am hoping for movement in the next 2 weeks since Christmas/new years is coming up and not much will be done during that time.

I haven't heard anything since interviewing on 10/28 🙁

Based on what I was told when I interviewed here, post interview admissions only makes one of two choices for each applicant: Accept or Waitlist.
Accepted students hear back within 2-3 Weeks (Longer if that 2-3 week range intersects with any Holidays).
Waitlisted students don't get any notification and rejections are only sent to them when June comes along if they don't eventually get off the list.

In the past have they accepted students during December that interviewed earlier in the cycle? Wondering when their deadline is for accepted students to confirm a seat.

I was accepted in late December when I applied if that helps. It was approximately 4-5 weeks post interview. But things could have changed not sure.

Do you know anyone in your class who got pulled off the waitlist in december?

Thanks for the quick response! Trying not to give up hope. I really want to go here and have am totally in line with the mission of UCR.
As I have said before, never hurts to keep the admissions committee updated with your activities/letter of interest/letter of intent. You really never know what pushes you over that line 🙂

Would it be more advantageous to send an update letter before the end of the year or after the new year?

interviewed on halloween, still no word yet. has there been a single acceptance to this school yet, for anyone? I dont think there's much to really worry about.
I also interviewed on Halloween, which group were you in?

Lets hope for some movement. last year several people got accepted before the holidays. has anyone heard back this week?

This school is driving me nuts. Want to hear back already. Interviewed in late September, wish they would just make a decision so I can move on

I haven't been on this thread in forever!

I had a couple of friends get accepted to UCR the Wednesday before Christmas break, and somebody on here "anonymously" (they didn't want me to say their name but I will respect it, lol) messaged me that he knew three people that got accepted the Friday before Winter break. So acceptances have definitely been going out. Based off of last year's thread, not many people from that interviewed before the new year got accepted after the new year. So things are not looking great, unfortunately. If any yall have seats at other schools that need deposits, I would go ahead and put them down. just my 2 cents though.
Well, this is depressing.
