2015-2016 University of Cincinnati Application Thread

For those neurotic few who have already looked into housing (like me), has anyone looked at apartments just across the river in the Newport, KY area? There seems to be some nicer places there that are less expensive. I am also not sure how that would affect residency status since I am IS, but I am currently in undergrad outside of Ohio and am still considered IS so I don't know if living just across the river would actually be an issue or not.

Also, maybe other people can chime in, but I am operating under the assumption that I will need a car for med school, which allows me to expand my range when looking at apartments. Does anyone know if my assumptions are accurate regarding needing a car here (I am thinking about for the longitudinal preceptorships during M1 and things like that)?
I've found some pretty good places for 600-775$ per month within walking distance to campus!

Also for lpcc you will need a car. At least my friends there all had their assignment to a clinic that required driving

For you it may affect your IS status, but not much. Certain counties in Indiana and Kentucky IS tuition + $300 per semester. It is certainly a way that OOS students can get IS tuition faster and you may save more than $300 per semester for a nicer place.

Hello everyone! First post ever. Got an II and I'm excited. I am currently out of the country and for some reason cannot access the information provided about places to stay. Can someone tell me what hotels are close to campus and affordable so I can get a room in advance. I read through but do not remember seeing anything about it. I'm flying in through Indianapolis. Thanks.

Got the II last week, interview on 12/02. I've been getting pretty worried for a while now. This is the first II I've received.

IS, 3.7 GPA, 3.8 sGPA, and 37 MCAT.

For everyone who already interviewed and was accepted, how would you recommend to prepare for the MMI? At least mentally? Is it intense, or does it feel more laid back? What kind of questions did they ask?

Laid back, not ethical, more personal
In my Opinion... Just relax! I thought it was really fun!

To be honest, I wouldn't really prepare. I don't think reading up on ethical situations is helpful at all. It seems intense at first but it's actually pretty laid back and fun. They ask about your experiences, and about scenarios, and there are a few acting stations where you have to interact with an actor.

I couldn't have said it any better!

II today, OOS. Why is Cincinnati so expensive to get to??!?!?! For those of you who have already had interviews, did you actually stay until 5pm?
If your check in time is 7:45 you'll be done at around noon. If your check in time is 11, you will be done at 5. This was my experience at least.

Just out of curiosity , do you guys think if someone has multiple acceptances, shouldn't they just choose the top 3 schools they want to attend and withdraw from others?
There are so many people waiting just to get an opportunity to interview.
I would withdraw if I was in that position.

Ignore this person ^ They've been spamming every application thread with this question.

I just got an email saying current students are going to be calling accepted students tomorrow... Oh God. This is stressing me out. I hate talking on the phone.

So, I finally had the interview yesterday! It was just like Lannister and jmpatt29 said: it was fun, and there wasn't really anything to do to prepare for it. The administrators in charge of the interview day gave a presentation all about the MMI, and did everything they could to reduce our apprehension. So now comes the REALLY hard part, of waiting four weeks until I hear back on the decision. But I really feel that the MMI went well, and I have a lot of hope 🙂

Besides reducing our fears about the MMI, another effect of the presentations that were given during the day was to make me really, really like the school. Beforehand, I felt like I wouldn't "mind" going to UC, but it wasn't really my top choice. But after yesterday, it jumped right up to the top of my list. I love the building, the facilities, the people, the city, the history of the college, and I really want to go here now!

How do we join the accepted students Facebook page? Is there a link on the portal?

Accepted. No email, just checked the portal. Interviewed 11/6. LizzyM ~74. THRILLED!

Now I have the option to "confirm" or "withdraw." Confirming just holds my seat until April, correct? Or is the fact that I have been accepted enough to hold my seat until I make further decisions and choosing confirm means I am committing to UCCOM permanently?

No you must accept their offer to hold your seat.

For people that have interviewed here, how long were you told it would be to hear a decision and how accurate was that?

For those who've interviewed, were you given any indication of how long the interview season lasts? From last year's thread, it appears the final batch of invitations were sent out in late January. I'm still holding out hope for UC but I also have to be realistic so I can get the best housing possible where I've been accepted.

At the interview they said they interview until march and most wait list action occurs in May

Checking the portal every 10 minutes... It's been well into a month later..........

Anyone know how important final transcripts are? Like as long as we get mostly A's and no C's should we be good?

Does anyone know if there will be decisions going out today? Interviewed 4 weeks ago, and from what I understood they should, it just feels like it's been so quiet!

I don't know, but I'm in the same boat. Hopefully decisions get out soon. Good luck!

I keep thinking we are going to get caught in the holiday break and not found out till Jan.

Does anyone know when their class fills up? Will the upcoming interviews be for waitlist spots or spots in the class?
