Congratz on the amazing LizzyM score. I'm surprised that Maryland didn't you scoop you up immediately right after the interview? May i ask if you had extensive experiences in research (something that Maryland really cares about) or clinical experiences?

Me too! I think I will be a waitlist applicant here soon. Recently, UVA and CU put me on WL due to lack of clinical experience.

What's a "sufficient" amount of clinical experience? I'm trying to figure out more or less the issue with me being waitlisted in a couple places including here

Shadowing to a great extent. But Maryland love those that are medical scribes, EMT, etc.

CNA and good LORs!

Based on my experience, many hi-stat applicants do get rejected even by low-tier medical schools due to having very little to clinical exposure.

CNA? That's sounds like a good clinical experience 🙂 when was your interview? Are you IS or OOS?

Will officially be matriculating!!!!! 😀 Finally got my aid, and decided that for the money, in-state tuition, and amazing program, it's absolutely worth it, and I'm so excited to move to Baltimore and meet you all in August!!!!

Congrats!! Would OOSers mind posting their decisions here too? Trying to figure out how many spots could open up. Thanks!

Out of curiosity, can anyone speak to chances of getting off the waitlist? or how their waitlist even works, besides being separated into upper and lower halves?

Unfortunately, it's ranked. If a position is open, it will automatically go the person first in line!

So no other March interviewees heard back recently?

Sure, I am IS. I previously went to grad school at UMB. I took the old MCAT with a score of 33. Undergrad GPA 3.74, grad 3.5.

for people who are on the waitlist, does it show if you are upper half or lower half?

Yes it does specify. It also says the wait list is a total of 250 people and the current class is "oversubscribed". So I'm not sure how far down the list they will actually move.

I'm on the wait list and I haven't gotten information on my placement on the list. Have they told anyone yet? I thought they said we should find out in May?
Edit: didn't see the previous comment before posting.

My letter specified, but I think that's because I was on the last interview date so now they are officially done reviewing all applications.

Letter says we will get an update in June regarding status on wait list.

Maryland is a great school but I have decided to go elsewhere. Does anyone know how I am supposed to officially decline my offer so I can open up a spot for a very deserving person on the wait-list? I can't figure it out.

just email the admissions email address and say something like "Thank you for your time throughout this medical school application process. I wish to withdraw my acceptance from (INSERT SCHOOL NAME HERE)."

I don't have any wait list letter yet, but is it ranked beyond just upper and lower half?

Nope, which is why ranking upper and lower half is counter intuitive: when you have a giant waitlist of 200+ people, ranking by halves doesn't help at all, other than getting each and every 100+ people on the upper half to wishfully think that they themselves are at the top of the waitlist, while lower half people pretty much get an auto rejection.

Just withdrew from here so hopefully my spot gets snagged by one of my fellow SDNers

Got the waitlist ranking letter today. Top half of the list. Not sure how much movement theyll have but good luck to my fellow waitlisters!!

Also like BaeDreaming. Waitlisted in upper top half. Does anyone know if letter of intents at this point will help, or is it decided?

Hello! Does anyone know if having a masters in forensic medicine completed at UMB help me get in to UMB school of medicine? chief medical examiner-person oversees program-is the chair for forensic pathology residencies in the school of medicine

thanks
