Congrats!! I'm glad to hear UMass is still giving out IIs... they seem to be moving so slowly this year! Do you mind sharing when you were complete? Are you IS?

I was complete mid August and I'm in-state. Good luck!

They move slowly every year. Unsure how things are going to be different since OOS can apply now too so I'm not aware of the different timelines and such, but I can assure you that UMass moves very slowly for things. Expect to not hear anything for while. It really doesn't mean anything.

In previous years, there was a LOT of W/L movement, and I expect that to be the case as well especially for IS students. OOS is a mystery to all but the adcomm right now and perhaps even for them since they've never done this before. However, in times past they could only have 125 acceptances at a time and had to let people in as others rescinded the acceptance. That's the reason for the slow movement and insane number of waitlist spots. The W/L moves here a LOT (for IS anyway), so really a WL doesn't mean anything.

Just something to keep in mind.

Does anyone else agree that it seems like they are moving much slower than last year? At this point last year many people had heard back about acceptances or at least about being waitlisted/rejected.

Is that true ? I don't remember seeing that on last year's thread.

Hey y'all. I just canceled my interview scheduled for 1/11/2016. If you were hoping to move up to an earlier date there should be a spot free whenever the admissions office reads my email. Good luck!

Email at around 10am. Anyone else?
Nope nope...when did you interview? I checked my portal and it says "Under Consideration"...but I'm not sure if that's just the default status for completing your interview? Hadn't checked the portal since my interview day (mid-late Oct).
Congrats on the acceptance!!

10/19. What about you?

And thank you! It's been my top choice since I started thinking about attending Medical School! Can't wait to start in the fall!

I'm also "under consideration" but I interviewed in Novemeber so I'm assuming it is just the default status until a decision has been made.

Anybody rejected yet? Im IS, complete mid-Aug, and still haven't heard a word. Freaking out more than a bit lol

After you log in, click Self Service then Student Center. Scroll to the bottom and you will see Admissions. You will see various checks depending on how far you are in the application cycle. You will likely have green checks all the way to Under Consideration. Does that help?

rejected, IS LizzyM 71 , Complete 8/15. I really thought I had a shot at this school despite being a re-applicant and being an alumni of UMass Amherst...

II today- completed early July, LizzyM ~70. There is still hope for early completion people, stay positive!

Any consensus on what being "Under Consideration" means on the UMass portal? Is it just a default setting until a decision is made or an unofficial waitlist?

I hope there's no drawback! From last years thread at least it seemed like there were some people who got straight acceptances who interviewed in February

Does any know if they accept updates/letter of interest pre-II? Surprised to find that some schools outright don't want you sending anything additional in--looking at you Penn State. And I might be missing where additional info can be submitted on the portal, but it definitely isn't as user friendly as some of the others.

For the portal you have to use a suitable browser for it to work. I just figured that out. I can't stop checking on my status. The wait is maddening.

I'm pretty sure I interviewed pretty late in the cycle and I got in off the W/L. You have to remember that they waitlist a LOT of people since they can't over accept like many schools do.

A large majority of the class here comes off the waitlist. May 1st sees a ton of movement.

Point being, if you're offered an interview, then you have a good shot. Up to you whether you want to take it or not.

If anyone has any questions about UMass, feel free to message me or post on here and message me if I miss it. I'm a first year.

I was accepted today!!! IS, interviewed mid October. Extremely excited, UMass is one of my top schools.

For the OOS offered an interview, what were your GPA/MCAT scores if you don't mind me asking?!

Also, how long did it take for II to be sent out?

Has anyone else who interviewed during the last week of October gotten accepted/waitlisted/rejected yet? Didn't expect to love it at UMass, but I did, and now I'm anxiously waiting!

Interviewed mid/late October and have yet to hear back. Also loved UMass! I actually spoke with my boss recently who used to be on the admissions committee, and he said they are VERY slow and stingy with acceptances early on, mainly because they are not allowed (by state law/legislation/rules/something) to have more than 125 (IS) students. This means they give out very few acceptances until they've seen most of their applicant pool, and later on there is a lot of waitlist movement to maintain that 125 student body.

Does anyone know how late into the season UMass interviews? In state, complete mid-July, no word... pretty discouraging
