Anybody have any idea when the people who interviewed in late November will hear back?

UMass is notoriously slow for sending out early acceptances... It could be a couple days/weeks or you might not hear back until March. Did they tell you when you should expect a decision?

noooooooooope 🙁

So...do they accept pre-II updates or not? There doesn't seem to be any sort of consensus. Thanks!

UMass is my #1, but tuition went up so much, so now I'm looking into scholarships. I can barely find any, and most I have found have due dates approaching. These applications require acceptance into med school (which I don't have yet🙁)so what can I do? BTW.. IS Complete 8/7, II 11/18 for 11/24, LizzyM 68, still waiting to hear back. Thx!

Have the scholarships you've found been through UMASS or available to anyone attending Medical School? Thanks

Are you looking at IS or OOS tuition?

Since the cost goes up every year, is there really much of a difference for an IS student going to UMass vs a private school?

Private school tuition goes up too though. The percent difference in cost might decrease a bit, but we're still talking about 20k or so a year difference which isn't anything to sneeze at. It was a much bigger difference for me relative to the private school I got into.

Yes! I have no idea where to begin. Any chance you'd be willing to help me out? Thanks!!
Absolutely! I googled md scholarships and searched through NIH's website and those are the only ones I'm applying for. They have later deadlines, so I'll apply if I am accepted anywhere. I found many for people hoping to work in undeserved area as PCPs, so if that's your dream, the NIH has you covered.

I'm wondering about updates too - the portal is so difficult to navigate and I didn't see a place for updates. Have any OOS applicants gotten interviews? I'm still waiting to hear anything back as a non trad/OOS.

I'm an OOS and had an interview. There were a few others at my day. This was in November.

bump this, what's the analysis guys?
When I interviewed at a school (private, not UMass), I was told to multiply whatever you take out in loans by 3...and that is how much you should expect to pay back.

So let's say UMass will save you 20k a year x 4 years = 80k x 3 = 240k difference in debt. I guess it all depends how quickly you pay off the loans though and what the interest rate is...subsidized or not, etc.

Just got accepted by email! OOS, interviewed in Oct. After looking at the OOS cost of attendance though, am going to decline the offer so someone else can have the slot-- $90k a year is a bit steep 😱. That said, the med school facilities were really nice and new, and this school seems to be great value for IS students (sadly, I haven't been a MA resident long enough to qualify for IS cost).

Accepted as well! IS! This is my #1, and it all feels so surreal right now. Hopefully many others hear great news today!!👍👍👍👍👍👍:clap::clap::clap:

Congrats!! Can I asked what month you interviewed?

Accepted today! OOS, interviewed in October. Waiting on a few more schools' decisions, but right now, UMass is my top choice of those that have accepted me!
GPA: 3.7, MCAT: 32, non-traditional (2 gap years doing global health work)

Looks like Umass has passed me up. I've missed 4 acceptance days over 4 months u.u

When did you interview? They're really slow with sending out acceptances since they're still interviewing a lot of candidates.

I wouldn't read that much into it. They tend not to overaccept and pull very heavily from the waitlist. It's in your best interest to keep doing whatever it is you're doing and doing it well and sending them a meaningful update when the time comes. I sent them a pretty solid letter before the WL started moving explaining why I was still interested even though I had other acceptances and that they were my top choice, as well as providing an update as to my activities. I got in on the first day of the WL.

ACCEPTED on 1/15 !!!!! IS and a reapplicant. Also waiting to hear back from a few other schools before making my decision.

Good luck to all those waiting to hear back 🙂

Hello friends, does anybody know when UMass is sending out their next batch of acceptances (better yet - when are late November interviewees going to get some good news!?). Much appreciated.

February 19th probably before noon is the next batch.

If you are a late November interviewee who has not heard back, expect a waitlist in April

Why do you think that? People who interviewed in October heard back in November, December, AND January...so I don't know why late November people would all hear back on one date.

Because of the way their committee works. They accept the strongest applicants out of each review. And each month when they meet, they rereview all applicants again. So if your app wasn't strong enough for an acceptance the first round, it likely won't be strong enough the second round either.

If you interviewed in late November that means you've been passed up for 2 straight committee meetings. It's possible you can get an acceptance on 2/19 but most likely you'll be waitlisted in April.

Does UMass do post-interview rejections or do they waitlist everyone?

They do do rejections but I think it's very rare. Most of the class does come off of the waitlist so it's not necessarily bad to be waitlisted. It's more normal.

Does anyone know if there is a way to send umass an update letter? I interviewed back in October but have yet to hear anything...
Just send it to the admissions email, they will respond that they have added the update to your file.

I just got an interview here for March 8th!! IS, totally unexpected with my stats. I'm guessing I will be wait listed at best because it is so late in the game? Any tips?

Congrats!! Can I ask what your stats are? When did you get the e-mail?

Did you find out over email or portal? Also do you mind sharing your stats?
I found out through email. 4.o gpa, 38 mcat, half traditional (graduated in Dec), just a few extracurriculars but ones I really love doing
