2015-2016 University of Oklahoma Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Like, it wasn't shorter/longer than that at all?

It's in 2 parts. First a semi-blind section where the three interviewers have seen everything but MCAT and gpa. During that half its 7 behavioral standard questions. Then it's a 5-10 break where you step outside in hall while they look at scores. Then second half is free flowing questions and finally your questions to them. I think mine was almost exactly 1 hr. I was first done in my group of 6 but they where each out too within 5-15 minutes.

Earlier in the thread Bookish posted that he received an email response stating they'd release them monday afternoon.

II today! Don't give up! Boomer sooner!!

To those who already interviewed, what kind of questions did they ask? Any tricky ones? Interviews serious or laid back? Nervous and excited!

My interview wasn't too serious, but not too laid back either. It's definitely not worth stressing yourself out over too much though. I didn't have any tricky questions, but I know some people on my interview day got asked some, like, "can you fire a patient?" Just remember it's okay to say you don't know, and that they're really just trying to get to know you. Good luck!!

Called the office and the voicemail said they were on holiday until Jan 4th..

I really hope they don't make us wait until next year. But they did say at the interview we will get a message mid december...

I was deferred as well. I wonder what the stats are on deferral and acceptance in February. Another waiting game..

When did you receive the email if you don't mind me asking? Last year a ton of people got in from the deferral list that I knew so don't worry.

Accept just now like literally 2 min ago email.

Don't get down everyone else. I'm 36 and changed careers so there is always time. Good luck

Ps - only 2 weeks to accept so in many cases other slots should open. I've got to decide quickly and that will free up one at either OU or OSU so there's one more for a deserving applicant in Oklahoma

I'm not sure how it works between Osteopathic schools and Allopath, but you can hold multiple acceptances at MD schools until April 30. Either way, you can send your enrollment deposit and confirm until you decide. It's refundable until the April deadline.

Well, I was rejected. I don't really understand. Best of luck to you all.

Accepted OOS. Good luck to everyone. Not 100% sure i will ultimately attend here due to acceptances i have in Texas where I'm in-state, so there might be an OOS spot open up

Did anyone else get accepted to the SCM? If so, are you leaning a certain direction?

Accepted today!!!!!

So happy to remain a sooner for another 4 years, can't wait to meet you guys! Boomer sooner!

I got accepted to both, I don't know which one to pick. Okc has way more opportunities but Tulsa is home.

I feel like the Tulsa track is much more individualized and interested in patient care, but I do feel like okc has a larger pool of contacts.

Obviously a current student probably has better insight than me, but this was also my thinking and reasoning for deciding to not pursue the Tulsa track. Again, just conjecture, but OKC has pretty much every specialty available to do rotations in - if I want to do a rotation or sub-I in something more esoteric like pediatric nephrology (or even something less so, e.g. neurosurg), I could feasibly do that in OKC...probably less feasible in Tulsa. Maybe that's not the case with rotations and Tulsa track can come to OKC and do them, but still, it would be harder for instance to do shadowing on weekends. Plus more interest groups/extracurriculars presumably available in OKC. I was just afraid that going to Tulsa would prematurely close doors that I don't have enough information/experience to know if I want to pursue certain areas or not.

\If all else fails, reapplicants are cherished. Best of luck. Boomer sooners
This is true. For what it's worth (read:anecdotally speaking), all three of the re-applicants I know applying this cycle have gotten in.

Not to mention the research opportunities that are available in OKC

OK its official I just declined my other schools, paid deposit, and accepted OU. I'm 100% locked in on OU! Was actually just driving back from Texas this afternoon and stopped and got some OU Medical Gear (fleece jacket, hats, etc) at Ratcliffe Bookstore by campus for family to give over Christmas. Cant wait to meet you all and hopefully some of you guys/gals from 3 Dec interviews I already met got in too. Full steam ahead all other bridges burnt (but nicely 🙂
