They reject people with high stats because they assume they will get acceptances at more 'elite' institutions. The closer to their median stats the better.

You just need a good reason for fit with Rochester. Here that could mean proximity to upstate/western NY, activities/PS that fits the biopsychosocial model, etc. It's tough without a secondary to get fit across so that could explain the reason for exodus of high LizzyMs. I think my hometown was a big factor on having success with UofR because it's a strong and obvious reason to choose UofR over other institutions for me. Of course, selection bias on SDN means most of the ppl you hear from have higher LizzyMs anyway.

Yeah, same. I was dreading checking my email, but thankfully survived as well. I was complete mid-September... I saw a rejection posted earlier from 9/15, but perhaps an outlier?

Wow. Haven't seen such a blatant massacre on here yet. That's crazy. You're all rockstars with incredible stats.

I disagree about yield protection being the reason why they are sending out such rejections. UofR is a top mid-tier school with a median MCAT of a 34. A substantial amount of people that interview there and get accepted have high LizzyMs. This is not NYMC, Albany or Georgetown. They have top stats for a mid-tier school. Its strange that they are rejecting so many incredible applicants.

Same here. I submitted Aug 19 so I'm guessing they haven't gotten to me yet. Sounds like a lot of the rejections were in July and early August.

EC's are subjective though. I think it just relies on you having learned something from them.
