Here you go, very informative, somebody posted from last year

It seems like there are 4 levels of status updates:

1. "The committees file review indicates that they are very interested in your candidacy. We are trying to get all candidates at your priority score interviews as soon as possible IF we have an adequate number of interview slots."

2. "The committee's file review indicates that they are interested in your candidacy. However, due to the increase in the applicant pool this year, it is clear we MAY be unable to interview all the candidates at your priority score. If we do find that we are unable to grant an interview, you will be notified by e-mail in March."

3. "The committee's file review indicates that they wish to consider your file over the next several weeks before making a decision about interview. Your file will be reviewed again by a small sub-committee before making a final decision. Once a decision has been made on your profile, you will receive an email regarding your recent status update."

4. "The committee's file review indicates that they would like to consider your file further. We are now in the process of scheduling interviews and will continue to do so through February. Unfortunately, the committee indicates interest in far more candidates than we are able to interview. Since we are dependent on the Committee member's schedules for interview spaces, we are unable to predict when or if we will be able to schedule you this year. If your status changes, you will receive an email regarding your recent status update."

Yeah, I saw those...but I didn't get any of them. I went backwards to the pre-subcommittee status.

I am saying that I had the status rehearsal just like you had, I have submitted my secondary on 7/18 and today my status changed to #2 on the list. So, yours will change as well soon and hopefully to #1 🙂

That's a breakdown for the next set of statuses, as long as it is not a rejection

The first one is basically a guaranteed interview - you should be getting an invite within days, probably.
The second is the "may" status and is generally promising if you get it early in the cycle.
The third is less promising, though people have still gotten invites with this status.
The fourth is definitely the least promising. Not sure if anyone with this status has gotten an interview, but again that's just from what I have seen watching the threads over the past two cycles.

Yup, I definitely read through that part, I just wasn't sure what the reversal meant. I'll take your anecdote to show that it just means a bit of portal delay and I'll get the next stage status soon!
 
I have had the first status for about 3 weeks now. Seeing that other IIs have gone out I plan to call them, but I'm not sure how to phrase "SDN told me I should be guaranteed an interview, so, ummm, where is it?"

I had that status for a couple of weeks, just got an II. I would hold tight until at least September.

Let me know if/when yours changes! I'm refreshing the applicant website constantly... I really hope they didn't just forget my application!
 
My file has been under review since July 23 with no status change...starting to worry

-This is the status I have had since the end of July. Really hoping for some good news. Congratulations to everybody that has received an II.

For those of you who's status moved backwards after committee review, the same happened to me on Monday. I called today and asked about it and was patronized slightly. A few hours later I received the 4th status. not feeling too hot.

I had the 4th status before getting an II 8/3, if I've learned anything from this experience it's that nothing is predictable 😛
 
ahhh i just realized that my application was put on hold to await MCAT scores AND grades. I'm not waiting on EITHER. Who knows how long that has been there.

you sure about that? mine also says that below my status, but I think it may just be telling you possible holds... just make sure so you dont stress yourself out!

That sucksssss, I went backwards as well... I won't call but it's still showing my file needs to be reviewed!
 
My letters have been marked as unreceived for two weeks even though they've been assigned in AMCAS. Tried emailing the contact they provided, and the email bounced back. Tried emailing another person from their department, that email was invalid as well. Tried a third time, hopefully that's the charm!

People with that status have gotten II's so hang in there.

Also, does anyone know how the process of staying with student hosts works? I know VCU provided us with a list of students so do we just contact them directly or do we have to coordinate with the school?
 
how long did it take people to get a secondary, they notified me that thy received primary on 8/12. this is the first secondary I wrote....... :dead:

Been submitted since 7/7 and no updates, something tells me they might grab certain applicants first over others.
 
log into the SOM portal website and check to see if you have a secondary. I had zero emails but got a secondary lol
 
I know this is not helpful to most people but I just got a status update (6:30 PM EST) and my status went back to "Your file is now complete..." after being under review for 4 days.

The same thing happened to me just now, and I had been under review for 4 days, as well.
 
I hate sharing stats bc I don't want anyone to think I'm humbly bragging (there are people with much better on here anyways). But I have a 72.5 LizzyM and still have not received a secondary. Guys...idt you got screened out- based on numbers at least. Just sit back and enjoy the ride, cuz we don't have much control and I trust they didn't lose all of our apps.

Congrats on your scores! Yours are far higher than mine, I'mm OOS, and I got a secondary. I think they are just swamped guys and gals. Keep the faith, it'll all shake out as it's meant to.
 
so I just received a rejection but I am really confused.... my new MCAT scores are not released until Sept 8th( and my old one sucked) and I am still waiting for some LOR.... so how is it they made a decision without all of materials... i had the minimum amt in but not everything

I just checked my portal and found out that my letters are in, but I'm still incomplete. Does anyone know if that's normal or should I consider contacting them to find out why I'm still not complete?

Secondly, all my references were classified as Science (by AMCAS or VCU, I'm not sure). Does anyone know how strict they are with the 2 Science + 1 non-Science reference requirement? (i.e is it fine to just leave it as is, or should I look into having the ones from profs who taught me non-Science courses reclassified?)

That's happened to a lot of people, including me. I used the little help thing in the corner to send them a note about it after both contact emails bounced, though I have no confirmation that they ever saw it. I did end up with a II despite the technical mishaps.

and thats why i hate sharing stats, bc somebody reads way too much into it even after u say "i hate sharing stats bc I know someone is going to think its something its not." unless u are joking. honestly can't tell with how people react on this site and decide u just have to be humbly bragging if u even talk about stats, even if u are just trying to offer some friendly input. i think i made it clear the only reason i was posting that info was to ease the anxiety of all the people talking about getting screened out. Not like I threw in my 78 LizzyM with five pubs bc its just been oh so long since i last got a pat on the back, it had a purpose or i wouldn't have said it

Posting LizzyMs and complete dates are immensely helpful for all applicants. I have never looked at a LizzyM and thought anything other than "Is this +/-2 from me?* Was this person complete in the same week I was?" Because that is all anyone cares about...themselves! All you need to say is "LizzyM 72.5. Complete X/XX. Still waiting too." I sincerely promise that saying it this way will never come off as humble bragging. No need to add a disclaimer to your post or worry about what anyone else thinks.

*Except that one 80 I saw....DAAAAAYUM! That's impressive
