2016-2017 Case Western Reserve University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was looking at the last year's thread. After the 10/15, CWRU released decision once a month during the first week of the month (starting from November)
So I'm guessing they took care of everyone before 09/30 with yesterday s batch and ppl who got reviewed yesterday will hear back beginning of November?

I ve heard from their M1 students that they all got the decision abt a month after the interview. So maybe that's how long it takes for them to get back to you.

Most likely. I interviewed mid September, but I didnt hear back yesterday. I emailed them, and they told me that they deferred evaluation of my application because my interviewers didn't attend the meeting. So keep in mind that there are things that is out of our control that may delay your decision.

I was placed on the alternate list on Monday, according to the portal. But when I went back to the portal today, the status update notifying me of my placement on the alternate list is no longer there. Anybody else experience the same thing?

Yeah, they are. There was a small bug in the logic for displaying notices. Everything should be visible again at 9AM today, and nothing's lost or removed from your records, just hidden from sight temporarily. A permanent fix will go out this afternoon to keep that from happening again.

Got another acceptance today and I'm not looking to stay on the alternate list here. How do I withdraw my application?

Emailing admissions is always a safe bet if there is no portal option.

Quick question- how long did lerner take to get back to ya'll? not really worried about it as its only been about 6 weeks for me, just curious to know if they've happened to slow down on their screening process lately

About a month, complete early/mid July

So for everyone who interviewed from 09/30 to 10/12, they'll probably hear the week of 10/24 or 10/31 ?

The adcom apparently meets "shortly" after your interview to vote on the outcome of your application. Assuming shortly means that they meet within 5 days and then notify you in the 2-3 week timeframe, you're probably looking at 3-4 weeks after your interview for a final decision.

Note: This is all speculation. I do not know for sure.

I interviewed 10/03, and they just met for my date this past monday, exactly 2 weeks from my interview date.... so i wouldn't count on "within 5 days"...

Although from talking to their students and hearing from the admissions office, i d say 3-4 weeks is good estimate, which is really quite awesome considering many many other schools make u wait months or till feb!

patience is key guys! its easier said than done but its a part of the journey!

Hi all,
I am a newbie here, so I apologize in advance if this question has been asked before: My secondary was completed in September and I have not heard a peep from them...Does any one have an estimation for how long does it take them to review and if they are planning to reject you, will they notify you right away?
Thanks!

They have been rejecting people. I've been complete since the beginning of August, and haven't heard anything from Case, but was rejected from CCLCM mid-sept

.
Thanks for letting me know...So I guess the wait continues...

So now I'm not sure what to do for interview scheduling. The university program has spots open as soon as next week but the college program doesn't have spots until December. I would rather not take two separate trips to Cleveland. Do you think it would be OK to schedule both dates in December? I probably wouldn't even be able to attend a university program interview until mid November anyways. Any advice is appreciated!

According to Case's website, "You will be notified of a decision electronically within two or three weeks after `the Admissions Committee meeting."

I think there is information on the Case Admissions facebook page or the twitter page when they have Adcom meetings or when they have had one (at least, they did this last year). Decisions usually came within 2 weeks after they discussed interviewees from your date.

Interviewing here next Friday (10/28) and this is one of my top schools, so so so excited.

I've heard that the interviews are pretty conversational/casual, what did people think of them?

Also, the interview schedule seems a bit open/ambiguous with regards to when interview day ends. What time did people who have already interviewed finish: 3? 3:30p? 4?

Super awesome interviewers, I had a ton of fun! And from what I remember, we ended 3-3:30

does anyone know how they decide who gets to apply for scholarships? and when?

I think it's near February. When they called me last week, I asked and they said there was no set date on when the invites would go out yet.

Invited to apply for scholarship in my hard-copy acceptance letter. FYI for people wondering about financial aid timelines.

Sooner the better. I would take two trips.

I was invited to interview for both! Just a question, how many people does CCLCM interview? Since it's class size is only 32

Roughly 250 I believe. Check out the CCLCM thread, it's exhilarating. That is by far my number one right now .

Does anyone know how long after admissions committee meetings that decisions go out?

Last year, they released decisions once a month during the first week of the month

Do you guys think December interviews are considered late? I signed up for a December interview here and I have mid December interviews at 2 other schools...

Interview invite to the University and College programs!! Application completed in July.

I'm planning to schedule consecutive interview dates. I know this a minor point, but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or advice on whether it would be more informative to interview at CWRU first, then Cleveland Clinic - or in the reverse order?

I interviewed back to back at CCLCM first, and the days really had no influence on each other! Schedule them however works best for you

🙈
Anyone else thinking (hoping/praying/begging) they'll release decisions from the last review meeting today?
Last year it was the 3rd so I'm guessing it's either the same or next Monday. But probably not earlier.
