2016-2017 Cleveland Clinic (Lerner) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
yeah... they should just reject us instead of keeping us in the dark lol

Have you guys considered emailing either your interviewers or Dean Franco to ask. For those of you who haven't been alternate list-ed or rejected.
I email my interviewer with questions and she is very helpful and they are pretty open about the process if you want to get an idea of when to move on to another school.

Thats actually a good idea, it wouldnt hurt to try.

I'm just saying since a lot of the cycle has passed the committee would at least give you an update if you asked. That way instead of just wondering where you stand you could start to figure out what you should expect rather than continue to wait. Let me know how it goes if you do decide to email 🙂 I'm sure many other sdn'ers would love to know the result as well

Rejected via portal... oh well, good luck to everyone still in the running!

Who else is still holding on to the alternate list with me here? Sending good vibes to you all!
Stay safe for those affected by the snow storm! And stay positive!
(Meanwhile I shall be stranded in the airport trying to go see grandma....)

+1 alt list since December, staying optimistic but realistic. Mad hype for being a doctor whatever the outcome is!

Still on the alternate list after recent notification. Really hoping that what @adcom101 said earlier in this thread (that ~16 of the first 32 will go somewhere else) holds true! I'm trying to still be realistic, but the wait is already tough......

Anyone going to Second Look received a confirmation email yet (after submitting your RSVP)?

Nope. I set up the research meeting though and I got a reply about that, so hopefully that means they know I'm coming.

Waitlisted, finally after all this time.

Alternate listed applicant here but didn't get a SL invite. Anyone know how many people they'll take from the waitlist this year?

The directly depends on the amount of accepted applicants who decline their acceptances

Edit: but in years past they've said 40-44

Have there been any withdrawals yet/have people declined there acceptances? When should we expect to see waitlist movement? @adcom101

I am not allowed to have this information and don't have knowledge of specific movements of this class (w/d, WL, AL, etc). As above, there will be plenty of movement by April 30 as other acceptances from WL, scholarship, and other MD-PhD notifications occur. Good luck to all. May your dream school come to fruition!

Yes, this is correct. USUALLY, 8-12 are accepted off the WL. Note: this is a range with at least 2 standard deviation!

Does anyone know when we will find out where we stand on the alternate list at all. For example if we are on the end of the list and wanted to know so we can start getting ready to apply again? @adcom101

Sorry, I don't have access to that information. All I know is that if you're invited to SL even though you are not in the first 32, you should consider yourself high on that AL/WL.

For all my fellow Alternate-listers out there, tomorrow is April 1st which means it's officially MOVEMENT SEASON. Best of luck to you all, I can only hope I will get the chance to call you my classmates! It is going to be a nerve-wracking couple of months!

Any news recently and any idea when waitlist movement will begin? Getting antsy over here

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what exactly the full tuition and fees scholarship entails? Looking at the COA they have on their website, I would guess that it would cover the tuition, the Activity fee, the Graduate Student Council Fee, and the Loan Fees, but I wasn't sure about other things they budget for such as board fees, health insurance, etc.

Thanks!

CCLCM covers your tuition and fees. Housing, food, and transportation is all on you.

Yeah I was also wondering about health insurance.....

They cover your tuition and mandatory fees at Case (including the activity fee and student council fee if they are mandatory). Health insurance is on you. Case has a student health insurance policy you are required to purchase, unless you already have an equivalent policy from your parents, spouse etc. Loan origination fees are on you and are usually deducted from your disbursement.

Is another update/letter of intent even worth it at this point? Or are our fates basically sealed?

I doubt it would make much difference, but if you have something really significant to share, it seems like it would be unlikely to hurt. Personally I'd consider it just for the closure of feeling like you've done everything in your power to help your application.

Also every time someone posts on this thread, I have a mini heart attack thinking that the waitlist movement has started. It's a weird combination of relief coupled with additional anxiety about waiting.

Did any of you guys get an update since 12/30/16 about alternate list. Or is the last thing on your portal still alternate list from 12/30.

Hi guys, I made a throwaway to avoid identification due to the incredibly small cohort size of CCLCM students. I hope you do not perceive me as trolling. I sincerely just wish to update this community as I see no one has been posting information.

I was an alternate list candidate invited to second look weekend, and I was accepted off the wait list last week. However, I know I am not the first because a friend I met at second look was accepted off the wait list almost immediately after second look, in the first week of April.

Talking to administration during the weekend, it sounded like most second look invited applicants are admitted off the wait list in April because CCLCM pressures its admitted candidates to make a decision fast. Historically (at least last year from talking to current CCLCM students), everyone invited to second look (maybe 10-15 people) is admitted off the wait list as well as an additional 3-4 people not invited to second look.

Interesting and good to know! Thanks for giving everyone a heads up.

When will calls to alternate listed candidates start going out? I saw that they occurred before actual traffic day last year but no one's posted recently about being accepted off the WL

Last year it looks like people were called both before and after traffic day so there could still be some movement in the next couple weeks.
