I think someone did an informal study on acceptances based on wording in last years thread
I agree. To spike some more anxiety into this thread, maybe we should talk about our responses from interviewers haha.
Is not sending thank you emails frowned upon? I have a poor post-interview acceptance rate so far. I didn't send thank yous because I thought people said they don't make a difference.
An MS1 at P&S said the adcom sometimes mentions whether or not the applicant sent a thank-you letter during their meetings, but I got the impression that it was a relatively small factor in the admission decision. Is not sending thank you emails frowned upon? With that said, I think a good rule of thumb is to send a letter if you genuinely want to express appreciation, rather than just in an attempt to get a leg up in the admissions game. I've sent letters to certain people at certain schools, and didn't send letters to other people at other schools; those decisions don't seem to have impacted my success at any schools thus far.
What interesting is that throughout my interview day, the deans and student guides kept talking about being waitlisted was not the end of game, the dean even said studying medicine at a not-so-privileged school might not be a bad thing. It made me feel like the chance to get a straight acceptance is quite slim, and we have to fight aggressively to be pulled out of the WL. Did you guys get the same impression from your interview experience?

And eventual 28-29% accept, correct?Supposedly initial 20% accept, 10% reject, 70% WL

Hi guys,
Don't read into emails or anything too much at this point. Just a few more weeks until decisions come out, and I promise you'll be a lot less stressed during those weeks if you treat any communication from Columbia until then as a stock response and not try to interpret the relationship between that and decisions.
Generally, good rules of thumb for numbers are ~200 initial acceptances and ~100 acceptances off the waitlist. Don't lose hope if you get waitlisted - a lot of people in my class came off the waitlist, and demonstrated interest during the waiting period can only help. If you are interviewing at Columbia, you are an exceptional candidate for medical school, regardless of where you end up, and you're all going to make fantastic medical students and future doctors.
🤣Wedge said 'Don't read into emails or anything too much at this point'! WHEN SHOULD WE START FREAKING OUT???!?

Anyone know if acceptances are likely to come through phone calls again this year?

My bet is tomorrowSo what we thinking date wise? Friday the 10th, Monday 13th?
My bet is tomorrow, they sent out the preparatory emails more than a week earlier this year, and I bet it will be the same Thursday/Friday timing as last year. Plus I had a dream I got in here last night sooo...

Anyone want to call or tweet...
Either way, I doubt they wait until after all the people have interviewed to decide.I'd be surprised if it's today or this week at all, the last interview was yesterday from what I understood
Don't tease us 😛

I wondering if they just put all applicants on the ads listserv.

I don't think so. I got the email at a different address from the one I used for AMCAS/applying.
Huh?Got an email from Columbia telling me I should apply for their one year master's program as it would be good prep for med school. I feel like they're telling me something...
It's probably just a random ad they sent depending on your subscription preferences.Got an email from Columbia telling me I should apply for their one year master's program as it would be good prep for med school. I feel like they're telling me something...
