2016-2017 Creighton University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats to all of those with IIs! Has anyone had luck with an MCAT section of 124? I read that it is not a requirement but competitive applicants for interview have each MCAT section above the 55th %ile. Just trying to feel how serious they are about that.

One of my subsection scores is a 124 and I got an II...

Is physiology a requirement or just recommended at Creighton?

Should I bother applying here if I only have a very small amount (~25 hours) of non-clinical community service?

You have posted in every SINGLE thread. Maybe it's time you do your own research just like every single one of us has. 25 hours of non-clinical community service is something of concern anywhere. ESPECIALLY a Jesuit school like Creighton.

You know you could have just typed a simple "no" in less than a tenth of the time it took you to type that rant, right?

Not trying to be rude, but it was slightly irritating to wake up to 15 notifications that happened to be posts from the same person typing the same comment everywhere.
So sorry if I did come off rude. Next time just post in the general pre-med forum. I also had 14 secondaries on my plate in one minute also, so it happens to everyone. I understand exactly how you feel. But, maybe touch up on your non-clinical volunteering hours now. Go volunteer at a food bank and just add to your hours. But that being said, there are exceptions to everything.

I have around 50 non-clinical volunteering hours, and I received an II here. However, I do have around 300 clinical volunteering hours, and very extensive employment/clinical experience.

Yeah, in my panic moment yesterday I didn't realize that would cause problems for other people.

On their website it says they require a demonstrated commitment to non-medical community service. I have not much at all. Anyone have any luck getting an interview here with minimal non-medical community service? Wondering if its even worth me submitting their secondary.

I only had around 50 hours of non-clinical volunteer and I got an II. But I also have a unique-ish background

II last week! Looking forward to seeing this school again. It was my favorite interview last cycle, and anyone who feels nervous--it was the easiest and most comfortable, stress-free interview day by far! Such welcoming and wonderful people.

I scored a 124 on CARS and got an interview here!! My other sections were super high though so that might've been why. Good luck!!

So I was just recently hired as a scribe and it seems like a no-brainer that I update my application to show this. Any thoughts on what all I should talk about in my document that I upload? I don't imagine it being super wordy since I don't have any experiences with it yet.

Is there anyone that could tell us how the interview day goes? Is it necessary to bring any papers or anything for the interview? Also, will there be a place where we can store away our purses, keys etc.? Thank you!

Are the adcoms Catholic? Or the faculty that will be interviewing me Catholic? I did a lot of Catholic-related work in undergraduate college that involved some controversial issues (ex. pro-life march, etc, etc). I'm wondering if it is safe to talk about it during the interview.
I know the dean loves talking about catholic stuff...

How long does it take to get a complete email after submitting the secondary?

Interviewed yesterday. It was a very relaxing interview. Staff were very friendly. Started off with informational speakers (financial aid) and then it went on to the actual interviews (each 30 minutes), one with a student, one with a professor/faculty member/ alum. After that, you're given a tour of the university. It was a great time. Again, everyone was very friendly! Great facilities!

Quick question: How long after receiving an email that your secondary was complete until you heard a decision about an interview or not? Thanks! Good luck to everyone!

Is anyone else planning on going to the open house event on 10/8?

"Letters must be dated during 2015 or later and signed by the letter writer."

Has anybody with letters prior to 2015 submitted?

They also dont accept Biochem from CC's for some odd reason. How serious are they about these ?

I submitted the secondary today! Hoping for some good ol Nebraska lovin! Anyone have any idea how long I'll potentially have to wait for a II (assuming they like me)?

At the interview they said they extended about 230 interview invites so they still have about 400 left.

Are you sure this is right? I don't know when they started interviewing but assuming it was the first week of August, that would be an average of about 58 people per week (or like 11 per day). I just don't feel like they're that on-top-of-it. Think about it, why would they give 230 interviews in the first month when interview season goes until March???? No, this just can't be right. The number is wayyyy to high for this early in the game. GW is probably getting close to that, but they interview 1,100+ people per cycle.

The poster said 230 interviews were extended, not conducted. Those invites can be, and probably were, for August, September and whatever other dates they allowed students to choose from. This isn't unique to Creighton. A lot of other schools have sent out similar numbers of invites, or more, already.

Ah, I overlooked the word extended in a fit of panic. Thanks for the clarificarion!

Does anyone know how strict the LOR requirement is? All of my LORs are dated before 2015 so I don't know if they are still acceptable. I didn't know until today that the letters must be dated on or after 2015. I am trying to obtain new LORs but I don't think I can get them in on time. Anyone has any insight?
