Just rejected. 516, 3.75, OOS. Submitted mid-July. Stung a bit harder just because I don't have any MD interviews yet, but still clinging onto hope.

With those stats, I'm sure you'll get an invite soon. Good luck!

I'm considered international I guess. My understanding is that due to my visa being a student visa I cannot claim nys residency even though I have been living here for the last 5 years.

Could any current students, or well-informed applicants for that matter, give their thoughts on their favorite aspects of Stony Brook? What do you think makes it special? I'll be interviewing here pretty soon and am trying to think about "Why Stony Brook?", besides the more generic reasons. Thank you in advance!

To those who have gotten interviews recently, what dates were offered? I am thinking about sending an in the area email for a date in mid october, but wanted to see if they even have space those days. Thanks!

First rejection of the season (sent via email if anyone wants to know) - I actually feel somewhat relieved. Submitted early July, complete mid-July. Good luck to everyone else! :luck:

When you receive the II, it asks you to email the office to schedule a date. They interview on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Apparently, Fridays are the first days to fill up.

Thanks! Haha I actually just recently got an interview (without sending the in the area email) and was able to schedule the date I wanted.

For those who want this: IS, LizzyM ~74-75.

Wow, that's a long wait.
There are people that submit in June and are complete in July that wait for interviews until March. It's a long process, a couple months is a long time, but it could definitely be longer.

Edit: misread the date, corrected for timeline of 2 months rather than 1.5

And some schools don't even give you any resolution. Here's looking at you Maryland 2012/13.

Rejected on Monday 9/12, complete 6/27, OOS. Best of luck to the rest of you!

II earlier today!!! Complete at the end of August. IS. LM 72-73. Also, just some info for you all - interviews are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The earliest date offered was at the end of October.

These are the only ESSAY QUESTIONS (Please limit your responses to one page per question)

Will your education be continuous between college and medical school matriculation? YES NO
If YES, please tell us what you anticipate you will be doing professionally 15 years after graduating from medical school and why.
If NO, please explain what you have done or plan to do during the gap period and why.

11. DESCRIBE AN OBSTACLE YOU'VE OVERCOME AND HOW IT HAS DEFINED YOU.

Good luck to everyone applying!

Hi, regarding the secondary question, "Will your education be continuous between college and medical school matriculation? YES NO"
if I have graduated from my undergraduate college, and I will be attending a one-year graduate school during the gap period, and also working full-time, then is my education continuous or no?

I don't think so, it sounds like its a "Are you going straight from college to med school or not" deal

Edit: But you can always email them and ask? They're super friendly

Hey guys, just wondering, how long between when you submitted the secondary and got a complete email?

Sorry in advance for the long explanation, but I'm just mildly concerned because the submission process seemed very unstable... I clicked submit, then I immediately was brought to a page that just had a message like "your application has NOT been submitted -- click pay!" ... So I clicked pay, and I paid. But then when I hit the button meant to bring you back to the secondary or submit it, my browser tried to load the page for like 5 minutes and then just gave up...
:wtf:

When I go to the portal, it says:
Your application documents are being processed.
You will be notified of status updates.

So it SEEMS like everything is normal. But I'd feel better if I got a "complete" email or if I knew others had similar experiences and everything was fine. I can't help but be worried it somehow submitted a blank application or something... 🤔

I received a complete email about 3 days after I submitted! It may take a big longer now that it's a little later in the cycle, so if you don't hear back within a week, maybe call them to check 🙂

Mine was actually a couple weeks after I submitted, and I submitted mine early July. I feel like it can be highly variable, like most parts of this process, unfortunately.

Thanks for the info!! Okay, I'll give it a week and then bother them hehe.

first rejection too today...this stung especially since I'm hearing amazing stuff about Stonybrook from my friends who go there womp womp 🙁

It seems like Stony Brook is increasing their MCAT and GPA reqs. I am very suprised howw people with LizzyM>70 getting rejected. I dont know about their ECs but I found it weird

Anybody complete since July and still no II or rejection? :highfive:
