II today, my first this cycle. The interview is on November 16-18. This is my second year applying but first year applying to SUNY Upstate. I'm OOS and if I'm doing this right my LizzyM is ~66, but my transcript is unusual and I'm a nontraditional student with an MS. My completion confirmation seems to have come in 8/20.

These kinds of posts helped my anxiety so I figure I should contribute.

And I dunno, this email just said "the date is nov 16-18". It said that an official notice was on the way, so I guess this is an informal notice.

If you send it through AMCAS, they will upload it and tell you when they received it. That's what I did

Yeah all that I remember is that when I got the email for the interview I checked my applicant page and it asked to pick your date and stuff

Can I ask anyone with experience what the format is like? The only other MMI I've ever done is 2 minutes to read prompt, 8 minutes to answer. We also got a clipboard and paper to jot notes down while reading. Is it similar at Upstate?

Hey guys, quick question: Am i supposed to receive a complete email? On the portal, all three boxes (App, Fee, LOR) have been received with my LOR being received on August 23, yet all boxes underneath the status column remain blank. Please let me know if you guys experienced the same thing.

When I contacted the admissions office after wondering the same thing, they said they only send out complete emails on Friday afternoons so you'll probably hear tomorrow!

So when I was booking, it was like a calendar set up where it looked like you could see every date they offered for interviews, coded red if the day was full/taken/unavailable and coded blue if available. If I remember there were only 2 spots even in September, with only 3 spots in October (didn't even look at November). Both spots in September were in red, and already the earliest October date was also in red. So it may look like its filling up fast but it also looks like they arent allocating that many days for interviews yet possibly if that makes any sense!

Maybe. I thought that it was odd that there weren't more October dates available. I had to choose one on November 14th.

you got called 5 days after your completion? thats pretty cool. they may have called a massive amount in early aug this year. thats insane that you couldnt schedule at least an october interview after being invited in aug

Hi @forrealthough,

Congratulations on your II. To answer your questions, Upstate employs the MMI style of interview. If you are unfamiliar with MMI, it is several short interactions with a single person discussing a single topic/scenario/theme/etc. As with many medical school MMIs, the people you interact with may be faculty, clinical, a medical student, or a member of the community. The people you interact with during the MMI will not have any information about you.

Hold as well, re-review after December 1st. I'm not holding my breath for an II. I would imagine the chances are very slim

Sorry to hear about all the holds 🙁 The dates are approaching my own complete date so I'm getting nervous. Was this notified through the portal or email?

Based on previous year's threads, all candidates were placed on hold or given an II early in the cycle. First rejections come later, but there are people who get II from the on hold list!
