II yesterday. Exited!!

I'm OOS, 511 MCAT, 3.8+ s/cGPA and some cool ECs with heavy research but I haven't heard anything from them other than the application receipt which I got on 8/15. AMCAS transmitted 8/11. Should I be worried?

i have higher stats (not trying to brag), and though i received the application receipt in mid-july, i haven't heard back. don't think it's cause for concern yet man 🙂

A lot of us that got the email as far back as early July are still waiting too. Last year it looked like a similar situation.

hey im in the same boat as you, i think we still have some ample time to wait for a secondary based on other posts I've seen in this thread,

have you gotten a secondary from any other UC?

Relax! This is a long process. According to last year's thread, there were plenty of people receiving acceptances in June & July and matriculating a month later.

Many of us were verified much earlier and have yet to receive a secondary. From what I'm told, they hand out secondaries in batches throughout the year. All we can do is sit tight and wait.

So, is the in 10 years question basically a way to see if you want to do primary care? Wouldn't the answer be either in a residency/fellowship or 1st year attending in FM/IM/EM/peds?

No, you shouldn't be worried. They screen pre-secondary so that takes up some time. I've been following this thread and doesn't look like anyone received a secondary recently (so they might be sending them in waves vs constantly). Also, in previous years, applicants received secondaries as late as December and were still competitive.

Okay perfect! I felt like UCLA had given up on me esp since I'm OOS haha.

Fingers crossed for us all, guys. Only other CA thing I've received is the UCSD secondary

Been waiting on secondary for over 2 months now but still no rejection. My friend last year said he just got an email sometime in November for pre secondary rejection, after just assuming he didn't get it :/

Alright whats going on here. I've been verified for nearly 2 months and no secondary. My GPA is above a 3.8, MCAT is above a 509, in state. I got one from UCSF, but none from here. Anyone else in the same boat?

I'm in the same boat as you. Haven't even gotten a UCSF secondary either. Pretty much given up at this point.

Idk how these UC schools screen, but I think there's a big component of randomness. My friends with a similar application to mine and who submitted weeks later than me got secondaries already for UC's and I didnt. Meanwhile, they didnt get one from UCSF and random OOS schools, and I did

Same here, but with a higher GPA and MCAT. I've received secondaries from all the UCs but LA. Somewhat confused...I consider my app pretty well rounded.

Maybe you can write about a course that included some type of research during lab? Or even an extracurricular that involved some type of community research.

Lunch with a dean is actually just eating your lunch at a big table with both the morning and afternoon interview groups, as well as one of our med school deans who will tell you about DGSOM--exactly who depends on which interview day, but trust me they're all awesome. There is no interview/evaluative component to this lunch, so you can't "mess up" during this hour unless maybe you do something really silly like get in a fistfight. 😀

We've been asked not to talk about the specifics of the interview portion of the day because it may change from year to year, but rest assured that Dean Hall will sit down with all of you before it starts to go over the exact format and answer any questions you may have.

I did not receive a complete email from DGSOM. If "Supplemental Information" is marked as received on your portal, your application is under review.

I've been waiting since about then too. Already finished UCSD and UCSF.

Anyone know what the status page's "Your online forms are due on: 9/16/2016" means with regard to letters of recommendation being submitted? I assumed from the wording that it just meant the supplemental information secondary itself, which I finished already, but I don't want to make a huge mistake.
