Does anyone know if the screen involves a specific cut-off MCAT/GPA?

I'm a reapplicant and applying with a 504/3.6 so a little hesitant to use my second and last application here :/
(i didn't get a secondary last year since my mcat was below 500)
 
i'm having trouble deciding applying to PRIME or MD only program :/
i have lots of community service work with the underserved so i feel that i am a good candidate for PRIME but if i were to get rejected from PRIME will i still have a chance at a secondary/interview at the MD program?

Have pretty much same stats as you and received 2ndary 8/2.

*edit - so I'd say, GO FOR IT! :soexcited:
 
"3 - 5 letters will be requested after initial review of your application. Please note that only those letters submitted through AMCAS will be accepted."

Should I not assign letters to DGSOM when sending them my primary? How can I add them later?

I would just add them when you send the primary so you'll be complete sooner by the time you finish the secondary
 
just submitted my primary, this is my top choice MD program so hoping the best!
and now the long wait begins for a secondary...
 
for those of you who haven't received a secondary, don't lose hope! secondaries are usually given out all the way until december, so even if you're not in the first wave of secondaries, you could still get them in the future

thanks for your feedback! also, if we have a publication accepted while waiting for a secondary do you think its worthwhile to send an update to the office about it?

Save that for the secondary. I highly doubt UCLA (any school) takes pre-secondary updates. GL

no secondary 🙁 received preliminary UCLA email on 7/14. should i be concerned?

Join the club 😎 I'm not too concerned yet though... it seems like a lot of ppl are in the same boat and UCLA's just late to the game. Or maybe all the UCs?? I submitted my UCSD app mid-july and my app just changed its status to "fwded to committee for review"....:hurting:

Y'all think like I do that the ucs take their time because they know we're all interested no matter how long they take? It seems other schools have to jump on the good candidates or risk them giving up their iis later on in the cycle as they get acceptances and stuff

i'm in the same boat for davis but i received my secondary for UCSD a little more than a month ago. not exactly sure how this process works :hurting:

I've received all other UCs, just waiting on ucla

515 MCAT, 3.93 GPA here. Haven't received UCLA either and seeing you guys also haven't yet gives me some relief.
 
Hey guys, I know consideration for Prime/Geffen is subsequent, do you interview twice or just once if you're invited?

I received the Prime secondary last week and just wondering about the process.

I finally accessed the site- it asks for an official transcript to be sent to them. Is this in addition to the official transcript we already sent to AMCAS?

Yes, this is in addition to the AMCAS transcript, so you'll want to snail mail that along.

II here yesterday!!! Unbelievably surprised as I'm OOS and don't have any connection to the area. So excited to visit! Complete on 8/1, LizzyM ~77

Does anyone know when interviews usually start? i.e How much time is there between when they schedule you and the actual interview day?

interviews will begin soon after labor day weekend, though as the interview cycle goes on, there may be a larger period of time between your II and the actual interview day.
 
If I never received a complete email after submitting my primary, should I contact the admissions office? Wondering if that's why my secondary hasn't been sent...

I never got one either. Pretty sure they don't send them out?
 
Still wondering exactly how they screen. I've received secondaries from all the other UCs. C'mon UCLA, it's been over a month! Show me some love!!!!!
 
I keep thinking I got rejected two months ago and then remember that I'm just still waiting for the secondary. lol I always assumed all the UC's would be on a similar schedule. Finished UCSD and UCSF over a month ago, but still hanging onto hope for UCLA.:xf: Hopefully all of us waiting hear some news soon!

I'm OOS, 511 MCAT, 3.8+ s/cGPA and some cool ECs with heavy research but I haven't heard anything from them other than the application receipt which I got on 8/15. AMCAS transmitted 8/11. Should I be worried?

No, you shouldn't be worried. They screen pre-secondary so that takes up some time. I've been following this thread and doesn't look like anyone received a secondary recently (so they might be sending them in waves vs constantly). Also, in previous years, applicants received secondaries as late as December and were still competitive.
