2016-2017 University of Pennsylvania (Perelman) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Me too SOD
Would have preferred an SOS😢
Good Luck to everyone.

Anyone know if/how to send updates?
It's under correspondence. I am convinced this is why I just got an interview. I hadn't gotten the status of death yet, and uploaded an update three days ago - bam, interview. For those waiting, upload a letter with good things you've accomplished + statement about how you would be honored to have an interview ASAP. <3

Hi! Would anyone mind telling me either what time we need to be there for the interview or where to find that information? I can't find it for some reason

Good luck everyone, including my friend who has an interview this weekend! 😉

Anyone who interviewed here care to comment on their experience? is it more or less relaxed as the previous years (two 30-minute traditionals)?

Very relaxed interviews and day overall (fun actually--they let us do ultrasounds on volunteers!)

Can anybody tell me what SOD means? Thanks.

It's Status Of Death!
It's a status update which says "The Committee on Admissions reviewed your application but has not invited you for an interview at this time. Additional reviews will occur and any change in your status will be communicated to you."

Technically, it's not a rejection, but chances of being brought back into consideration are very slim.

Thank you so much. They email it or you have to check your account.

So far my status reads that my application is complete and in screening. If I don't receive an II soon, does it mean rejection - since they interview until Jan 2017? Thanks!

Just checked the portal and found the SOD. Is that essentially considered a rejection?

Complete since the beginning of July. Status still states I am in the screening process. Not sure if there is still hope at this point though.

HOLY COW! II just now!!!!! Complete 8/18, LizzyM 76-77. Totally was not expecting this, so excited!! Can't choose a date just yet, Interview page says this:
"The Office of Admissions is in the process of making more dates available. Please check back within 24-48 hours."

Congrats!

Also, anyone who has interviewed here before–what do they mean by business casual? The announcement on the "plan your visit" page says no jackets. Did people who interviewed there wear suits like normal, or did most people wear a nice button down and nice pants/skirt?
Congrats!
Thanks!

Everyone on my date except 2 people just wore normal business formal (with jacket) anyways.

I wore my outfit without the jacket. Shirt, tie, and slacks. Lots of other people wore something similar, too.
