2016-2017 University of Washington Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
LizzyM is 65 🙂 I don't have incredible scores, but I have a great background and story so hopefully that pulls my way a little. Thanks for the kind words!

Thanks! Hope it works out for you! I have a similar LizzyM but just submitted a couple weeks ago. Best of luck on the interview. 🙂

I wish you all the best 🙂 just go do other things while you are waiting - I have been hiking, kayaking etc and haven't been thinking much about applications.

Any OOS still waiting for a confirmation Email? Should I give them a call? I know I will eventually get screened out anyway since I am from California but it's always nice to know lol

@CardioEnthusio15 I'm an OOS applicant from CA as well. I received a notification regarding my completed secondary a day after submitting. Hope that helps!

Did you get a confirmation Email from them after you submitted your primary? Or the first Email you got was the presecondary essay invitation that some OOS also received?

Also keep in mind, this is orientation week for them - so they are very busy right now

Thanks. Definitely! One of the many reasons I want to stay in the PNW; love our recreational opportunities.

Anyone else still waiting for either a secondary or a mission statement email? Lol idk if I even want to fill anything out anymore.

Yes, I interviewed at Seattle campus last year. I chose Spokane this time.

I feel like I read somewhere that those who interview at Spokane are compared to only each other, not with the Seattle campus, thus possibly increasing chances of admission.

EDIT: Found it

"Starting in 2015-2016, Washington applicants who prefer to spend their Foundations Phase in Spokane will also be considered as a cohort. These applicants will interview in Spokane, and will be compared to other Spokane interviewees rather than to the entire Washington applicant pool."

Do you know how this applies to "either campus but prefer Seattle" applicants? I really don't care which one I go to, Seattle would just be more convenient since I wouldn't have to move.

@BABSstudent

I believe you are compared with others from where you interviewed at, not what your preference is. But you could get "WWAMI'ed" and sent out to Spokane anyways even if you interviewed at Seattle.

Fine with me! I just want to get in haha

What if you put no preference? I don't really care where I end up...

Weird, I'd probably just call admissions Monday

I wrote this earlier, but all those considering the Spokane option: I spoke with the director of admissions and yes it is true that you will be evaluated compared to the Spokane pool of applicants HOWEVER, they will be looking for a reason you want to go to Spokane. So if it is merely because you think it will be easier to get in they will see right through that. So just make sure you have a strong reason for choosing Spokane campus

Going on my 4th week to verify my residency... is this abnormal? Has anybody else had trouble getting verified?

If you put either, you most likely will end up in Spokane - but as someone else said, be ready to talk about why you would want to go to that campus

And I don't think anyone has got a scheduling email yet

Interesting note; I went out with some friends this weekend who are new MS1's, and it sounded like this class actually had a much higher out of region demographic then has been usual. Could be just a mark of that particular application pool, but I found it interesting none the less. I think they really are much more holistic than other places - so if you feel like you match with their mission/values - you prolly have a chance

Hi! I'm wondering if they screen OOR applicants before sending the request for a statement about why we fit their mission? Or do they send it to all applicants
